When I edit the comments on the SS, I click on the comment I want to edit and the text shows up at the top of the SS fight above the headings. Then I have to click on that text to edit it. Then I hit enter when I'm done to save it.

Sending prayers for you and Max. :bighug::bighug:

Thanks. I think it's different on a Mac. When I go to comments and click on the box if I type more it erases what was already there.

Do you mean comments or notes that are in individual squares in the SS? If you click on the square, the note should come up but when you have a note or comment on a SS in a particular square, it usually shows a triangle, and I'm not seeing those on Max's SS.

Testing for MA is difficult if your vet doesn't have the special blood gas machine that tests for TCO2. Measuring arterial blood gas is the most accurate but requires it be done in a lab and also requires sedation. We could do a rough calculation for anion gap but we are missing the HCO3 which is often done as part of a superchem/cbc. In fact, our lab usually calculates the anion gap but I don't see it on Max's labs. Double check and see if it might be on there.

Here's the thing that is really, really confusing me about Max's labs that just makes me wonder if something else is in play and that is that his HCT is amazing! Usually with cats in CKD with these numbers, they are really becoming anemic. He's not even close. I won't say CKD cats could not have a great HCT but all the labs I've looked at in CKD cats, they are usually always pretty anemic especially if the CG hasn't caught it as it was coming down. Are you giving him iron or something and did you supplement potassium because it looks great now.

I am surprised at how much his numbers shot up. I think it's really smart to do the ultrasound and ask your vet why he thinks Max is not anemic if he's in this stage of CKD? Usually at this stage, the kidneys just really have a hard time making erythropoietin to stimulate bone marrow to make red blood cells.

Many hugs for you and vines for Max.

Let me turn on my Mac and see if I can see what you are talking about. I never had that happen when I was editing comments but then I quit using that feature.

I use a Mac and I can edit just as Carla does. Just make sure when you are clicked in the edit field at the top, that the whole thing is NOT deleted before you begin typing and you should be okay.

I'm on a Mac and do the same as Carla and Lydia for Remarks. You have to make sure to put your cursor at the end of the existing text before typing. And there is always Undo.

Sending vines. for Max and your DM. :bighug:

Max has decided he doesn't like fluids. He ran away when we were done and went under the bed. I gave him some of his favorite food that I wish he could have now as a treat. Hoping if he gets a piece after each session that he won't hide. I sprinkled a piece one the cat food because he didn't eat it when he first got it and he's eating now. This sucks.

I'm sure as he gets more used to them, he won't be as upset over it Elise....but sending hugs anyway because you need them :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Our kitties are pretty resilient .....they weren't all thrilled we were all the sudden poking their ears either, but look at most of them now!

Some cats really hate fluids because they have to be still for so long (or so it seems to them). Luckily I've only had to give Harvey fluids once, and he was feeling pretty rotten, so he didn't give me a lot of trouble, but I'd hate to have to give them to him daily. I often got Minka to sit still by feeding her during the procedure - baby food at first, then whatever she would eat as she became more ill and picky. She was so busy concentrating on the food that she didn't notice what I was doing. I guess you will just have to experiment to see what makes Max more comfortable. Maybe change where you're giving the fluids? I did Minka on the sofa in the family room.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Sending tons of vines. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Tricia. I don't think Max will do well in the open. He tried to get out of the bathroom and minute I pulled out the needle ran out and went under my bed. I have to give them by a mirror so I can see the lines and know when to stop. They go pretty fast as I got acIV poke so it's real tall. Thanks for the support.

Sending vines and light to you and Max- Hope he starts to get used to the fluids- and that you get some answers soon.
