Sid's numbers look a little better to me today. Not so much black. I did put his dose back down to 1.2 just because if he is going to bounce at a number in the 100s then I guess I have to increase his dose much slower than I hoped. He did a pretty good bounce this morning. When I left for work, he was around 160. I gave him some high carb food and then checked him a couple hours later and he was at 500. geez. I know he has dipped much lower many times before. It's really too bad that 100s send him bouncing even with spacing out small meals.

he also vomited again today - a small amount of digested food - maybe the size of 2 quarters - that I found when I came home. He still has a good appetite. I have not gotten a urine sample. I've been watching him like a hawk and then he goes as soon as I leave the room.
 
Clearly he likes his privacy!

As for the food, have you noticed if it's a certain type he has problems digesting? I found out quickly that Grayson doesn't do well w/ FF Beef. Chicken, Turkey, the seafood varieties - all fine - just no beef. Maybe it's something that simple. FWIW
 
Lu-Ann you could be right. I usually only feed him the authority pate chicken but I did give him a couple bites of the turkey flavor the last couple days. I also wondered if maybe an entire packet of fortiflora is too much for him. I put the plant away so it can't be that. I just hope it isn't ketone's! Since he got out of the hospital he decided the rug by the front door was a handy toilet so he has his own litter box right in the living room. :lol: the other cats do not use it either... but he does not get much privacy but obviously grabs it when he can. :-D
 
It sounds like things are calming down for you and Sid, Lydia. Or maybe it is that you sound like you are rolling with the pouches. Regardless, you are doing a fantastic job with Sid.
 
Thank you Sue. Me and Sid take it day to day. :-D It makes me happy to see where he is now compared to when he was hospitalized with the DKA and was so sick and one time was so weak he couldn't walk and could barely lift his head. It was pretty heartbreaking. So now I just smile when he goes to town on his scratcher and when he follows me around the house because he wants his dinner even though it isn't time and what am I doing leaving the kitchen... Tonight when I got home from work he had to wait almost 2 hours for his dinner and I had a shadow the entire time. :lol: :lol:
 
I LOVE that kind of shadow!!! Even the chorus singing that it's dinner time (or b'fast, or lunch, or snack...) They are some amazing, loving, fun, goofy, crazy little beasties! Can't imagine life w/o them!
 
oh... one more thought about the food. Someone who's spreadsheet I've checked out, logs in the type of food they fed - thus enabling you to see the pattern - be it high numbers, or in your case maybe food preferences... wouldn't hurt to add another column and keep up w/ it.

I'm sorry to hear he vomited again, I hope it's something simple like the change in food or too much FF....it could be the AB too. How is his breathing?

I know the bouncing is frustrating. He may keep bouncing even with you feeding the curve, despite your best efforts. It's nice to see some more blue on his SS though!

I hope Sid will cooperate and let you check his ketones! Have a good night, Lydia.
 
Hi Lydia! How are you holding up? I wasn't able to check Sid's SS the past few days. That's great that Blue decided to show up ;-) I'm sorry that Sid threw up...it could be the food? I know with Pru - I must of tried every cat food known to man...haha Although, some people would disagree, but that cheap Special Kitty from Walmart did the trick for Pru. I didn't have other health issues to battle like you have with Sid. But, Special Kitty & Diet Friskies Turkey & Giblets was our main dish. FYI - I have a Food chart on Prudence's SS people can look at. The link is at the bottom.
