Day 3 @.50Unit Lantus
I was happy to see him come down to lower numbers! Hope you and Furball are doing well!!!Nice blues last night. I hope Yoyo doesn't bounce today.

His bounces are really high this time. I'm not used to seeing those high numbers, hope to see blue soon.Nice blue run last night! Hope he'll break the bounce soon.
I wish Bella could come over and straighten him out!Very nice blues last night, Yoyo enough bouncing
U may not want that, Bella is now swimming with da sharksI wish Bella could come over and straighten him out!

Good for Bella, way to goU may not want that, Bella is now swimming with da sharks![]()

The F2 is a fat 2u, just a tad over 2u, I don’t see a FS on his ss, where is it...oops that means fur shot, i. missed him giving shotGood for Bella, way to go
Can you tell me what F2 and FS stand for under Units in Bella's SS?
Thanks, I learned something new todayThe F2 is a fat 2u, just a tad over 2u, I don’t see a FS on his ss, where is it...oops that means fur shot, i. missed him giving shot
The fat doses are for sometimes they need just a little nudgeThanks, I learned something new today![]()
Yoyo eats the 3oz cans of fancy feast, only the pate type. This is supposed to be the Low Carb type. I feed him half a can at AMPS/PMPS and then he finishes the can about an hour later @+1. He will not eat the entire can at AMPS/PMPS. I usually have to hand feed him his food. At +4, +5 or +7 he is usually hungrier and will eat the food from the plate with me watching him. Yes, he is spoiled and he waits for me to hold his plate; I'm well trained.....so a normal day is half a can at AMPS/PMPS, half can @+1, 1/4 can @ +4 or +5 depends on his BG level, and then 1/4 can @ +7. I delay his +4 feeding depending on how low his BG level is @+4. Should I be doing this? I thought by delaying his food at +4 I was lowering his BG level for his +5 reading. I'm trying to get that last 1/4 in at +6 but it doesn't always work out that way, usually he gets it @+7.
I started to try and feed him smaller meals earlier in the cycle, but that doesn't seem to be working for him either.
Does it matter how much I feed him as long as he gets his food before he nadirs out? I think he nadirs out sometime during +5. I'm trying to get him to have lower numbers from +5 through +11. I'm trying not to put the brakes on the duration of the insulin, but I am not doing a good job even though I'm trying. I'm told that I will know how my kitty reacts to food, but I really can't tell. He reacts differently to the insulin and sometimes no matter what I do, I feel I am not in control, but the insulin is in control. Sometimes he drops no matter what time his food is given to him- and that is the confusing part.
Sorry if I am rambling on.....but hopefully you understand what I'm trying to write here.
Also, Yoyo is very picky with what he eats. If it isn't fancy feast, he won't touch it. I have tried Blue, which to me looks and smells the same, but he won't touch it! He won't eat chicken or steak either, he just likes his fancy feast cat food,
Last night is a perfect example. He was in pink at PMPS, dropped 200 by +4, and bounced. We don’t know how much he dropped in an hour; he could have dropped 90 in one hour and then slowed. The fast drops trigger bounces.Forgot to ask you about what you wrote above....When he bounces from drops or lower numbers, he then clears the bounces with another drop. We call this a dive/bounce cycle..... I know he bounces, but I don't see where he clears the bounce with another drop. Can you please tell me what days you saw this?
Thanks again for all your help and thank you for listening to me. I have a lot to learn!
I'm trying to understand what you wrote about the pancreas working and not working. So if the pancreas is not working, then food should have no affect on his BG level drops, but food will affect his BG level increases? Only the insulin is bringing down his BG levels? From yesterday’s condo:
Normally, it takes three hours from feeding for the pancreas to drop the BG but if the pancreas isn’t working, you won’t see feeding @+4 dropping his numbers. For YoYo, since he’s not in all green on a drop dose where we would think the pancreas is working, if the BG drops, it’s due to the insulin, not food.
The amount of total food he gets depends on his caloric needs. How much you feed at each mini meal “can” matter. For example, when Gracie was on Lantus, I fed her bigger portions earlier in the cycle before onset. ECID. If you want lower numbers from +5 to +11, if you believe he nadirs at +5, then you have to limit the food after the nadir. It’s easier to keep track of how he reacts to food if you track it on the SS. If you look at Gracie’s SS, you’ll see I tracked the oz she got, when it was fed, and the carbs. There are times when the BG is dropping from bounce clearing that it is more challenging to feel in control. The best food for a cat is the one it will eat
I do understand and I hope my responses help you. Let me know if they don’t.

Other examples: p.m. cycle 2/21, p.m. cycle 2/18, a.m. cycle 2/17.
Can you see these patterns? These are the types of cycles where you want to test early to catch the drop and stop it. You wouldn’t have to do it all the time. If I could catch the drop early on Gracie for a cycle or two in a row, I could stop the pattern.
