Happy appy, snuggly, spunky, feisty, and anti-jinxes....and still snuffly, sooooo.....
.....I had to take Trix in for follow-up BW today (she's been off the AB for just over a week now - she was on it for a probable UTI/anal gland issue), and I decided to have the vetty look at her snuffles while she was there rather than just having a tech appointment/blood draw. Vetty reconfirmed all of my possible theories, and that of course we just don't know for sure so we're left with "trial and error". The basics: lungs are clear; it's all in her nose; her bad teeth could be causing it (she can't have a dental because of her kidneys so our only option is pulse ABs); it could be viral; it could be dry air or "senior citizen inflammation; most likely not bacterial since she just finished a long course of ABs. Nothing new...as much as I want the congestion to go away, at least it's not anything "major!" There are all sorts of options we could try to give her some relief. We're going to start with lysine and then go from there.
Another option is Zyrtec, so I'm curious to know experiences anyone else has had with it.
I'm a little nervous about it because a few years ago, when she had a really bad p-tities flare, she really reacted negatively to something...it was when she had both Bupe and cypro, and I don't know if it was the combo of the drugs or if it was the cypro, but she basically was so incredibly weak that it almost seemed like she was going to pass out. Bupe makes her really drunk, but it doesn't make her weak like she was that night. That was the last time I tried cypro with her. Since I know that's an antihistamine, too, Zyrtec does make me a little nervous, but I don't want to completely discount it. However, she's not snuffly all of the time, so I do want to keep any more meds to a minimum.
Anyway, Zyrtec thoughts are appreciated.
Her BW should be back tomorrow or so.
Time to get moving....lots to do (as usual) and we're behind schedule now (also as usual)!
Prayers to all....
Amy
