Morning! Well the day has come for the vet dental:S I have a purring unsuspecting kitty wondering where breakfast is. She did puke quite a few times this morning just water so I hope that's just a hairball coming. Now she's in and out of the litter box looks like maybe she has the runs? I'm so nervous! Please send all your prayers and vines to Chynas health:) I hope today goes by fast, pickup isn't until 4pm...drop off at 8:30am in an hour :YMSIGH:

Re: 2/25 Chyna AMBG 173 Dental today:(

Hi guys ... awww dental days can be so nerve wracking but I am sure chyna will do fine! Keeping you in our thoughts!

Re: 2/25 Chyna AMBG 173 Dental today:(

Sending tons of good dental vines!

pickup may not be until 4 but I'm sure you can call and see how she is doing....
My vet is always supposed to call when she's "finished" and recovering... yet they never do and I call instead...
It really helps me stop fretting to know when it's over.

Re: 2/25 Chyna AMBG 173 Dental today:(

Sending many good dental vines your way!! I agree - if your vetty doesn't call by early afternoon, give them a buzz to check on Chyna. My civvie, Petey, had a dental a few weeks ago, and once I found out he was out and recovering, I could finally relax and get some stuff done. It makes all the difference knowing that all is well!

Re: 2/25 Chyna AMBG 173 Dental today:(

huge dental vines heading your way chyna, she's gonna feel better when she's done. ruben has to go soon, so chyna can be a good role model for him.
keep us posted. breath and think positive thoughts. its gonna be just fine. :YMHUG:

Re: 2/25 Chyna AMBG 173 Dental today:(

I appreciate the thoughts and prayers, please continue! The vet called this morning and said her bloodwork showed something about low water in kidneys or some problem, so she is on an IV overnight and they will test again tomorrow to see if she is good enough for the dental. I didn't think I could cry anymore. I'm on my way with her insulin, food and bed on my work lunch break where I will hopefully not make a complete idiot of myself. I've never had her gone overnight before

(((Rachel)))) Sending your Chyna lots of prayers and healing vines and big hugs for you for comfort! Sounds like she might be a bit dehydrated. If you can get any lab results from the vet, please post and we can look at them for you and give our thoughts.

Rachel :YMHUG: :YMHUG: Did the vet give you an update on how Chyna is doing later on today? Sorry for the late post, you've been through a lot today. I sending piles of good vetty/dental vines over the Rockies to you guys. I hate leaving my cat for the day much less overnight.

Thank you all. Work was busy, I guess that was a good thing...hopefully I didn't make too many mistakes. My house feels very lonely tonight. I went at lunch to bring her food, insulin, and bed and got to see her a few minutes. She gave me a very irritated few meows and let me scratch her ears. They said I could come back tonight to see her until they closed, so I got to see her after work for 20 minutes or so. She was moved to a bigger cage while I was there so I got to hold her and carry her there. She kept looking at her paw hooked up to IV and then to me. She didn't eat so I hope she eats this evening, they're monitoring her. She wanted out of the cage but finally went and laid down on the bed I'd brought looking deserted right before I left

They're doing another blood test tomorrow morning and the vet is calling me to discuss, but she is tenatively scheduled for her dental tomorrow depending on results. I do have copies of the labs but I have no idea how to post them! The vet tech explained them a bit too...still not sure what all it means. She said they have treated animals with a lot worse and sounded optimistic but maybe that is their job to sound positive. Anyways, that was my day...

I think so...I have a new printer that I haven't scanned on yet so it may take some wiggling. She hit the edge of the litter box with a giant lump of poo right before we left (a little runny and was probably what all the crying and in an out of the litter box was for), so I did a quick clean...now for a better one, any ideas on what's good to clean the carpet? I've never had that to do before she's never missed! What do I do with the scan once I have it in?

First, the stain answer - do you have any Nature's Miracle? it's a cleaning product that you can buy in pet stores. It's also good for urine stains and removes the odor. For the short term, just dab till you have most of it, spray with water and clean again. Or maybe if you have some rug cleaner on hand that does spot cleans?

For the blood test results, I've seen 3 different ways people have entered them.
1. Create a google spreadsheet and enter the values, or make it an extra tab on your existing blood glucose spreadsheet.
2. In your condo, just type in the ones that are out of reference range. Just put name of item, value, reference range. Hopefully it's just a few.
3. Scan the document to a PDF, then use the Upload Attachment tab you see when post a reply (beside the Options tab) and enter the name of the document on your computer.

Thanks Wendy. I found some Oxy Clean carpet stain remover, looks like its working. I'll see if I can go to Petsmart tomorrow for the cleaning product...I swear I had something like that somewhere. I can't even see straight my eyes are so bleary...I think they mentioned she is close to anemia, which she had at diagnosis in begining of Dec. I uploaded the results to my picasa web album since I do know how to do that, lol, most at least hit the "normal" range if barely, hope tomorrows look better:

Looks to me like Chyna has the beginnings of renal issues. Her BUN and creatinine are elevated and she is showing signs of anemia but not to the point where she needs erythropoietin.

Renal values can be elevated due to an acute condition, to chronic kidney disease (CKD), or kidney infection. To best dx the latter, an Ultrasound is best. If it is kidney infection, 4-6 weeks on an antibiotic like baytril is best. If there is no acute or chronic kidney disease, the numbers will come back down.

Because of the anemia, I would more suspect CKD. The "bible" on CKD is Tanyas CRF website.

Giving methylcobalamine and a multi B vitamin helps immensely with the anemia. Let me know when you would like more info.

Hugs...it will be ok. If she does have CKD, she can stay stable for a long time with basic treatments. Our 17 year old kitty was dx 2.5 years ago and he's stable and happy.

Thanks Marje. I'm really overwhelmed and exhausted right now and skimmed the material, will read in more detail tomorrow. I've been giving her small amounts of methylcobalamine but was thinking it should be increased...any info is awesome, I just need to be more alert to absorb it:S I can always bookmark it on my computer. The vet said we would discuss her kidney options what I can do at home, so I'm guessing she suspects the same...I sort of feel like I could throw up right now. I was hoping for diabetic remission in the future since she was acting so much better and now this pops up to scare me. Thanks for the hugs, I hope my kitty can be stable and happy someday soon too:)

I know it seems scary but take a step at a time. You'll be able to do things that will help her. And just because she has an issue with her kidneys doesn't mean she can't go into remission.
