Hello everyone. I hope everybody is ready for the weekend.:O) I ran Choco to the vet to have his tail looked at and the vet seems to think his hair loss is due to a flea bite and then it got infected. Choco doesn't have fleas and she couldn't find any signs of fleas on him but said that he could have very well had one jump on him when he was at the ER or even at her office and one is all it takes. She gave him a shot that lasts for two weeks called something like Covena and then I'm supposed to put Tresaderm on his tail twice a day for 3 days. Hopefully that works cause his tail was getting worse and it looks pretty nasty. The girls at the vet were just in love with him and he was doing his bit to flirt his way into their hearts. He would do his little rubbing his head on my arm and then tucking his head into my arm game. He's such a ham. Everyone is just amazed at how laid back he is. He usually sits on his back in my lap while we're waiting to be seen with his legs spread wide open. :lol: He's a comedian I tell ya. Anyway, he brought a little laughter to my day that has not been so great at all. I learned yesterday that one of my foster babies I had about a year ago and was VERY close to had to be put to sleep because they said he had FIP. His brother seems to be okay but knows something is going on. He lost his best friend and brother and has no clue why. It all really tears me up inside so I'm glad Choco was able to help put a smile on my face. Have a nice weekend everybody.

So sorry about your former foster, Maria. As hard as losing my Miss Belle was in December, my greatest heartbreak was watching Willie process. It will take time, but his brother will get there.

So, Choco is a fellow vet charmer, eh? It just cracks me up how they can turn it on!!

Thanks so much Christie. I was looking at all the pics I took of David and Dino before they left me to go their forever home and then when they were there and I visited. They both just look so healthy and full of life. To see so many pics of Dino with his arm around David and them playing together definitely makes me smile but always very much hurts my heart. I hope Dino will be okay sooner than later.

Choco is something else alright. :O)

I hope you and Willie have a great weekend. It's suppose to be really nice here in Georgia. :O)

Oh my gosh Natalia, that breaks my heart. Dino's daddy says that he thinks Dino knows something is up and is just kind of being clingy. This is so very sad. Dino's daddy invited me to come and visit but I told him that it might be better to wait for a couple of weeks until the shock wears off. I honestly don't know that I can go over there without totally breaking down. Just thinking about it is bringing tears to my eyes. :cry: :cry: :cry:

Choco is doing well tonight. I'm trying to hold off on the HC food to see what he is up to. I think at this point, it is safe to just give him some LC food and check again in an hour but, I don't really know what I'm doing so hopefully I'm not messing him up.

Thank you Jen. It is very scary to read about and I will definitely keep an eye on him. When I questioned the vet about it, she basically said it would be a better solution than the Clavamox that might upset his stomach to where he might throw up his food and insulin. That sounded pretty logical to me and also the fact that she said she would make that choice for her own cat sold me. You are the second person who has sent me information on this and I can only hope at this point, it will not effect Choco in a negative way. Oyyyy, just another thing to worry about. :O( Oh well, it's better to be informed so I don't choose that option again. Thanks again and have a great weekend!!!

Well, it does say for skin infections, which he has :smile: Just keep an eye on him (like I know you probably do :smile:).

I had the same reaction as Jen about the Convenia. Unfortunately, a lot of vets use it for a wide range of infections for which it was not intended. They like it when there's a cat who's hard to pill. I hope the shot does the trick and the skin problem clears up.

I would disagree with one thing the vet said -- or maybe your vet misspoke. You said the with another antibiotic, there was the risk that Choco's tummy would be upset and he's throw up his food and insulin. Since you give an insulin injection, there's no risk of it being barfed up. Having given a shot and having a kitty who can't keep food down is another story.
 
Sienne, you are absolutely right and I have to honestly say, she probably didn't say the insulin would come up but just the food which would effect the insulin. That is just what I had in my memory when I went to type the message but it obviously doesn't make sense so I'm sure that was my bad, mixed up memory that threw the insulin part in there. Sorry about that. I am trying not to be freaked out about this shot that is now circulating in his body and am just hoping for the best.
