Hi Folks:

Well Scooter is talking a lot this morning. I think he is telling me all about his life and complaining about our LC house! :lol: Other than that we continue to stay green.

I still have not seen him in the litter box to see if he has cleared his diarrhea. I will be around more today so maybe I check easier.

Linda - Scooter is looking fabulous! I think he's telling us that he'd like to turn things into a more formal OTJ trial. :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: I think we can consider today to be day 5 of a 14 day trial. Here are the formal instructions for an OTJ trial:

  • Test at your normal AMPS and PMPS times. Feed multiple small meals throughout the day as much as possible (small meals are less likely to overwhelm a newly functioning pancreas).
  • If Scooter is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time, just feed small meals and go about your day. If he is blue, feed a small meal and test again after about 3 hours. If his number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then his pancreas is working!
  • Post every day so we can monitor your progress and see if any tweaks are needed. It is not unusual for cats to get lots of blue during their trial, especially at first. Don't panic and don't shoot unless we tell you to.
  • If, after 2 weeks Scooter has stayed in normal numbers, we have a party!
Sometimes the trial doesn't work the first time and we have to give a little more support in the form of resuming insulin. It's not the end of the world if that happens, we just give him the support he needs. Our goal is a strong remission and it's better to take our time to get that than to rush into remission just to have it fail later on.

To make it easier on you, you could change your subject lines to be "2/24 Scooter Day 5 Trial AMBG 83", instead of counting the hours. That also lets everyone know there's an OTJ trial going on. We love OTJ trials here. :-D

when yesterday went all green . . . we thought it was time to make it official! go scooter! congrats on the official trial, linda. Make sure you & Mr Greenie post it nice and loud in your subject line. You know how encouraging it is to everyone when there's an OTJ trial going on! :-D

Oh my goodness what a nice surprise! Yes lets try a trial! dancing_cat :thumbup

Only catch is that I have only been feeding him 3 times a day so I will change that. You folks are so nice and supportive it brings tears to my eyes. Thank you.

(I was wondering why BK took his tux to the dry-cleaners today. . . )

Wow - day 5 of your trial and still looking awesome! I'm so excited for you guy! Keep going, Scooter, and there will be one heck of a party in about 8 days! :mrgreen: :mrgreen:
