I hope everyone had a great weekend, and a good Sunday yesterday. It was a rather busy one here. My youngest son's DGF is a swimmer, and was racing at a local Masters Swim Meet yesterday. It has been a while since I have been able to go to a swim meet, so this was a treat. I swear I lived in the pool, mornings and evenings, for such along time, what with three swimmers in the family. It was like reliving part of the past yesterday. Kinda fun too! This is what I wrote last night about the day: "Hi everyone! I hope your day has been a good one. I have spent mine at a Masters Swimming meet, where my son's DGF was racing. What a grand time! She did well, best times I believe. It was fun to hangout with her mom and dad, and my son too. Before I went to her meet I went to check out the park near the beach park where I take the boys. The new park was nice, but predominately wetlands and marshes, and not too many places where I could turn the boys loose. No water access at this one. it was a great park, but the other, the Beach park, is better for them. I really enjoyed Juanita Bay Park, and would go back, whenever I wanted a wetlands fix. The wetlands were beautiful."

Normalcy in MusketeerVille!   What to say about the kitties.... They have been good kitties, and even Lola! Well sorta on Lola... Lola will always be Lola. What a great addition she has proven to be for our family. She's full of mischief while also being one of the sweetest cuddliest lap kitties I have ever had. She's camped out on my lap as I type this, hear resting on my arm, so all typos are hers. I discovered a week or so ago that she has two fur mats, the size of walnuts on her belly near her tail.... I spent the longest time trying to figure out how to remove them without loosing my hand or fingers, or be bleeding profusely from all the scratches. She just does not like to be brushed, or have anyone mess with her belly at all. I decided to try and work on them while she naps, before my messing woke her up,. That actually worked.    After three days one mat is gone, and the other is close to being removed. Imagine that!     Score: Bean 2 Lola 0. This is probably the only match I will ever win with her....   Bug and Elsa seems to have had a good day yesterday. They too met meat the door when I got home, and were cuddle kitties the rest of the night. YaHOO! Normalcy in MusketeerVille!

Have a great day everyone! I'm not too sure what will be here today. One of those days when I shall see what comes to be. If the weather clears some I may go do some local hiking. :-D And I still need to clean the house.... somehow that got missed this weekend.

KITTIES! Remember: think BLUE, think GREEN cat_pet_icon

Sounds like a great weekend for you. Way to go for your son's DGF. That is really something. I'm so glad you got to go and watch. I bet it was nice to relive some of that.

Way to go Lola! That is great to hear. She can be so sweet mom. Have a great day Michelle!

Morning Melissa ~O) ~O) ~O) THX, it was a nice one, variety plus some mellow regroup time. Good deal all around. THX on DS's DGF - she dido well, really loves the sport. Masters swimming is so much fun, as there just isn't the drama that comes from youth oriented competitive swimming. It is so fun to watch folks in their 40's, even their 60's out there racing. It was as you say, fun to relive what was way back when. HAHA on Lola, but it is true - she can be a sweetie too. She will make a great older cat, once all this playfulness dissipates some, assuming of course that happens.

Re: 2/24 LOOSE LIPS: Wetlands... Swimming.... & cheery cherr

Too sweet on all the cuddly kitties...it sounds like you need a bigger lap  . I'm glad you managed to finally (safely) get those mats out of Lolas fur...while she was sleeping sounds like a good time!

I'm glad you had a good time at the swim meet. It sounds like you have a family of fishies! It's nice when you can enjoy something like that with family :-D . Hopefully your day is going well and you managed to clean the house that got "missed" ;-) . Happy Monday!

Re: 2/24 LOOSE LIPS: Wetlands... Swimming.... & cheery cherr

I'm glad you have been able to get the mats off of Lola's belly. Way to go. I'll have to keep that trick in mind. Furball hates having her belly touched.

I'm glad you had a good time at the swim meet. Those are neat pictures of the wetland area.

Hmmmm, cherries and chocolate, my favorite.

And way to score on taking Lola to the mats!

Re: 2/24 LOOSE LIPS: Wetlands... Swimming.... & cheery cherr

The swim meet sounded great. How neat that the whole family is enthused about swimming. Pretty soon you'll be going to meets Nicholas and William are swimming in!

Good job on Lola's mats, Michelle. Rusty does a good job on his coat and rarely has a mat, but when he does, he is very patient while I work on pulling it apart with my fingers. (Alice had sebohrrea (sp?) and had bad mats. We had to have her shaved a couple of times, poor kitty. And she wasn't even a long-hair.)

Did you get out for a walk today? The wetlands sound neat, but maybe for when the boys are a little older and you can examine the plants with them.

Have a fine evening,

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty (who enjoyed Elsa's, Bug's and Lola's visit today)

Hi everyone! I hope your day has been a good one. Tt has rained here all. day. long. and then the fogs showed up too. We never made it past 41, just cold wet and sloppy out there. Despite that it was a good day here, productive. Got the house cleaned, cleaned out the kitchen cupboards. I hate tossing things, but this stuff needed it... Ya know.... the things past expiration date. WOOT it has been toss mode! cool. The fogs rolled in about noon, so I just decided to brave all that wet and see how things were. There are times when I really enjoy fog, and how it transforms things we see. It really was very pretty out there. I came home a little wet, but no worse for wear. Been a good day here. Heck - I even made it on the indoor bike for a bit. Exercise! Lola was funny - she couldn't figure out what I was doing, but loved it when I opened the window. Guess there were good kitty sniffs out there. Yahoo on that! I will post the Picassa link in tomorrow's condo.

Hi Rachel - Could be on the bigger lap! The mat removal worked, and I am glad. She just fights combing etc so to be able to get them before she knew I had was really very nice. THX on the meet, and swimming in general. It is true that we all are a bunch of fishies! All my kids were s swimmers, sadly I was not. Nicholas is making up for that! Meet was a tone of fun, as was today. :-D Well maybe the cleaning wasn't, but the rest was!

Hi Carla - Oh me too on those mats. it did work for her, but I could only do so much each time, before I woke her up. Eventually I got them loose enough that they came right out. A relief! As yes, one cannot touch Lola's belly either.  THX on the meet, and the wetlands. It was a very interesting, and different, place, the wetlands.

Hi Anne - ME too! Can't go wrong with cherries and chocolate. I read the otehr day that for Valentine's Day M&M's came out with a cherry flavored M&M. WOW! And I MISSED IT!!!! :o THX, mega thx, on Lola! the bean won!!!!!

Hi Ella - The meet was great - I really had a good time. I hope so on Nicholas an William. That would be way cool, but we shall see if the bug to race gets them too. My sons alwyas enjoyed the competition side of things. THX too on the mats - that was a challenge. What I would give to have Lola behave as Rusty does. Lola rarely gets them too, as she does a good job grooming, but these two were big ones.... I did hers as you do Rusty's - A little at a time while she slept. Oh my on Alice - poor girl! But i bet it did help, and she felt better after too. Yes on the walk today - a wet one, but I went anywyas. I agree on the wetlands, perhaps when they are older they will enjoy it.
Rusty! We had so much funs today. You are majotr cool dude! ~~ Elsa

Hi Michelle,
Congrats to DS girlfriend! How cool to have more swimmers in the family :-D
Good job on clearing out the mats :-D That can be a dangerous job  Lola is a kitty for all seasons - funny and wild, and a sweet cuddler too :-D Perfect!

Re: 2/24 LOOSE LIPS: Wetlands... Swimming.... & cheery cherr

Hi Jane - THX, she had a very good meet, so fun to watch! I know on the danger involved with Lola's mat removal.   The last one is hanging on by thread... now if she'll just let me get the last little fur thread.... And I like that description: a kitty for all seasons. :-D :-D :-D

Re: 2/24 LOOSE LIPS: Wetlands... Swimming.... & cheery cherr

I missed your condo yesterday! Very cool that you've figure out a way to get Lola's mats out. I love my long-haired kitties, but boy do I hate their mats. Mine don't mind brushing, but even with brushing, I can't seem to keep up with the mats that appear out of nowhere. DH is really good at pulling them apart...for some reason, my kitties have no patience with me trying to do that.

DH is swimming in a Master's meet this upcoming weekend, too! I've never gone to see him swim at meets - I'm usually working on the days of the meets, and I'm not sure he wants me to go. But he's doing really well with them. He's really just racing against himself - he likes to set the bar for his own goals more than anything else. But, I think with every meet he's created a new "personal best", and if I remember correctly, he's even beat some of his old high school times, too!

Have a great day, Michelle!

Re: 2/24 LOOSE LIPS: Wetlands... Swimming.... & cheery cherr

Hi Amy - no worries on the condos...know how that goes. :-D Very cool on DH and the masters meet. The one thing I like about master swim is that they can set their own goals, swim against themselves, work the whole thing in a way that works for the swimmer. Masters swim can be so fun - I just love seeing all ages out there racing. It is just cool. -- and oh yes on Lola's mats - she rally has only had these two, but what doozies they were, so far we are succeeding in their removal. :-D
