Hi Everyone,

First of all, many, many thanks to Monique for her very informative explanation of meters, veins, capillaries, etc. This is great information to have!! (And thank you, Sienne, for suggesting I write to Monique). After a great day yesterday, Stu has bounced back this morning, but I expected it. Off now to take my husband to yoga class.

In haste,

Ella

Re: 2/23 Stu AMPS 387, +3 154, +5.5 73 Worried

Hi Again, Stu's numbers are dropping steeply. 73 at +5.5. I'll test again in an hour (+6.5). Should I be worried?

If you are worried, test more frequently. By tesing and using food, you have control of the situation. I agree with Ronnie, a +6 wouldn't hurt!

Are you giving a little bit of food to help Stu climb up on a surfboard? Whenever I see a fast drop, it helps to give a little bit of LC -- a teaspoon or two (I give about 1/8 can of FF). It will soften and/or slow down the drop.

A 73 is a good number. It does have some momentum behind it and it looks like Stu can have late nadirs so you do want to keep an eye on what's going on.

Yes 73 is a good number..Not to worry, you are in control! Let's see where Stu goes at +6..You are in the 4th cycle of new dose, so you are seeing some good action here..About the vein, capillary thing, I knew the vets feel it is more accurate from the leg..Ok close but no cigar for me
Just keep some lc & hc nearby, but he is almost at nadir, so you maybe alright--
This is great progress!!

Re: 2/23 Stu AMPS 387, +3 154, +5.5 73 Worried

It looks like you did a +6 and got a reading of 85. Looking good! You are doing a great job.

Re: 2/23 Stu AMPS 387, +3 154, +5.5 73 Worried

Many thanks, everyone! Yes, I did get a +6.5 and the reading was 85. He ate "lunch" (EVO venison; about 1/4 can) at +5.5, right after the +5.5 test, so the food may be partially responsible for the rise to 85 an hour later. We'll be testing again at +9, in 20 minutes. He is behaving normally (taking his usual afternoon nap at the moment). Thanks again for keeping an eye on Stu.
