I checked that +2.5 twice, and it was 304 the first time. I have no idea ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ Is something still going on in his little body? Is Jude just shifting to erratic numbers? IDK. I took a urine specimen in today to see if the antibiotic has helped the UTI situation. He has been a bit slow to eat in the past couple of days, making me think he might still be slightly nauseated. He does eventually eat, but it takes a minute to get the ball rolling, which is a bit unusual for Jude. That and his spikey numbers make me think something is amiss.

I hope everyone has a non-manic Monday with safe surfs.

I heard back from the vet on Jude's UA. Here is his report. Glad to hear that his urine is clear, and I'm glad to hear that his higher numbers might be caused by the antibiotic (Baytril). We'll see in a few days if Jude's numbers drop and stabilize.

"Judeโ€™s urine is clear today. Also no glucose in his urine which is fantastic. Last time [2/16] the urine had over 1000 glucose indicating poor glycemic control. All things to celebrate!

I would think that the negative glucosuria indicates adequate glycemic control; however, I still donโ€™t like his numbers. Keeping him on the 3.25 Lantus was the correct call! I would suspect that as the diarrhea continues to resolve and with the higher dose of gaba we may be slowly moving in the right direction.

Go ahead and give the last dose of the Baytril if you havenโ€™t already. Finish out the last course I prescribed as that antibiotic also help with diarrhea.

Keep giving the higher dose of gaba and continue the prazosin.

Letโ€™s give him a day or two off the Baytril once itโ€™s finished and see what his numbers do.

There are rare but possible times that the Baytril can drive blood glucose shifts. They are rare, but we are talking about Jude, and we both know how sensitive he is to meds.

Letโ€™s give it a couple days then reevaluate. Follow up with another email or call about Thursdays and Iโ€™ll review his numbers and see how he is doing.

Overall I think we are moving in the right direction and his cortisol levels and other hormones should continue to decrease and normalize since the urinary tract infection has resolved.

Also I am sure there has to at least be some component of FIC flare up alongside the UTI as any disruption in the bladders natural balance can trigger an FIC flare."

Very glad his urine was clear Mary. And hopefully once done the AB his glucose will resume his nicer bg ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™

I hope heโ€™s feeling and eating better. Sending some vines to you Jude, eat well for your mom ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ€๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿˆ

Thatโ€™s great news about UTI and urine! Yay, Jude ๐Ÿค— I hope any of these high numbers might come down after you stop the antibiotics, fingers crossed. Sending healing vines regardless ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ

Also, your vet sounds lovely from that little blurb!
