Keep on coming down, Tess! We don't want to drag the ladder all the way over to you again today!!
Rusty

Hi Ann, Isn't it something else when you are happy to see a pink number at AMPS?! I hope this is the beginning of a downward trend.

Re: 2/22 Tess AMPS~359

Come on down tess! Theres so much more going happening on the lower levels and we know you like to party it up!

Re: 2/22 Tess AMPS~359 +2~360 +5~183

Well, unless this is another bad strip it looks like the bounce is clearing. Tess has skipped a whole floor again! :YMSIGH:

For the most part we have been feeding her Wellness grain free Chicken, Turkey or Beef and chicken at 4% carbs. I wonder if we upped that a little w/ say 6 % or 8 % it would slow the drops and hopefully reduce these horrendous bounces as well. Any thoughts?

So glad the pinks are gone, even if they were a relief! Blue is a MUCH prettier color for Tess... hopefully we'll see some greens soon too!

Have a great evening!

YAY!! Better numbers. BLUE Tess! YAY!!!!!

The foods thing might be worth a try. Maybe try it one day and see what she does? It would be interesting to see how much of a food spike it would give her. confused_cat

Ok Tess - great pmps tonight OK?

Re: 2/22 Tess AMPS~359 +2~360 +5~183 +8~168

I'm always afraid to go over about 4% in normal, everyday feeding (not just with Rusty, but I had this concern with Stu, too). I somehow have it in the back of my head that they will get used to higher carbs and that it will not be good for their diabetes in the long run. But that is probably irrational thinking. Perhaps we could start a discussion about this. I'm sure a lot of us have these concerns.
Anyway, it's great that Tess has come down so nicely today and I hope the trend continues.

Have a great evening, (and I hope you get some good sleep!)

Re: 2/22 Tess AMPS~359 +2~360 +5~183 +8~168

Ann: I think it depends on Tess; when I get a low number on Gracie's PS then we give her WN 6% as her regular minimeals. I use chicken/herring, turkey/salmon, and beef/salmon. I've also noticed that since we started feeding half her total portion in her PS meal, and then 1/2 of what is left at +1, and then 1/4 each of what is left at +2 and +3, she isn't taking those enormous dives. So, for instance, if I'm feeding WN chicken, Gracie's calorie allotment equates to 1.6 oz for one cycle. So at PS, I feed her .8 oz; at +1, .4 oz and at +2 and +3, .2 oz each. It's taking time and she still comes down 60 in an hour but she hasn't taken those huge 100-150 drops and I think the 6% helps her...but only when I think she's gonna do something. IF she's (250 or more), I start her on 4%.

Re: 2/22 Tess AMPS~359 +2~360 +5~183 +8~168

What Marjorie wrote is essentially what I do too. lower PS numbers are fed with a higher carb food: 5-6 %. normally Mannie gets 3-4%

Looking forward here to her pmps. I hope the downward trend continues.

Have a great night guys!

Re: 2/22 Tess AMPS~359 PMPS~112

Lots of drama here this afternoon. John was taking a bike ride, finally after all month of mom and dog care. A pickup made a left smack in front of him and that's what he did, right into the side of the truck! Thankfully it wasn't the other way around. they took him to the ER, sore back and some road rash but he should be fine. The doctor said for the next couple of days he will feel as if the truck was a semi and had hit him, though.

So Tess got her shot half an hour late. Actually I was surprised that we got out of there in 2 hours. I was ready to pretend she'd had a fur shot, but they decided that X-rays weren't necessary and that he could go! :-D the bike isn't even badly damaged!

I'm not really wrapping my head around the food ting right now. Hopefully I'll be thinking more clearly in the morning. And I probably won't be around much tonight.

Re: 2/22 Tess AMPS~359 PMPS~112

Oh my goodness, Ann!! I am so glad that DH is okay!! It is scary how, in so many cities, there is so little regard for bicyclists. Fingers and paws crossed that he heals quickly!

At least Tess is giving you great numbers!

Keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers!

Tess hasn't gotten the memo about the later shot time is is wondering where her breffis is. cat(2)_steam

We've decided to try adjusting the mealtimes a little to see if that slows the big drops, we may have gone a little too late when she started the lste nadir w/ Lev. Also considering going backt to the 4 full drops. Just too many nasty numbers lately in spite of a few nice cycles.

Poor John, I hope he's OK (and his bike too). I hate it when cars make sudden turns like that, never signaling. Many drivers simply don't "see" cyclists, even when they're looking right at them.
Good luck with Tess' numbers today. See you later.
