2/22 Asher, dental went well...and ?

Hi everyone:
Just a quick note to say Asher’s dental went well, he lost one molar in the back, and is happily stoned on Bupe here at home now :-D He’s the super head butt kitty when he’s on Bupe, it’s kind of sweet. My pants from the knees down are filled with cat hair from him rubbing me all day. Pain meds magnify his lovey personality I guess. :lol:

We are trying to get him back on track with dose now. He went low last night b/c of the anesthesia as per usual, (so we just fed more) but today he’s a bit high since we are not back up to normal dose yet. We’ll be moving up again tonight for sure.

The vet mentioned they’d like me to use a dental rinse for Asher to keep away plaque. It’s called CET Oral Hygiene Rinse. According to the manufacturer "active ingredients are :
Chlorhexidine gluconate…0.12% Cetylpyridinium…0.05% and Zinc in a soothing alcohol free vehicle. Chlorhexidine is present in free and encapsulated form”.

The vet nor the manufacturer will say for sure if this would have any effect on a diabetic. They said "just try it". ;-) We have worked too hard to get where we are, so I am always skeptical.

Do any of you use any of these rinses to help with dental issues?
 
Hi, I'm glad all went well with Asher's dental. So cute with Asher getting affectionate on Bupe. :lol: I noticed the same with Mags. I'm not positive, but I believe Anne & Liz may be familiar with that rinse. Someone here mentioned it in the past. Sending healing dental vines to Asher.
 
Hi Donna. I'm glad all went well with Asher's dental, except for the one toofer, that is.

Checkers is another one that gets affectionate on bupe. :smile:

His SS sure is looking great!! I don't know either if the CET will affect his BG but I don't see anything in it that "should". However, ECID. I agree with the vet...try it once and if it raises his BG, then try something else like just the CET poultry flavored toothpaste. That doesn't raise Gracie's BG.
 
Thanks so much everyone. Yes Dyana, that is the same rinse as they recommended for Asher. So you have been using it with no problem? The other stuff looks interesting too. Dunno how my guys would be with pills :-/
 
looking GOOD, Asher!! Long time, no see, Donna! Glad Asher had a good dental report, sorry about the one tooth. Sweet about him being more loving when he's high. :lol:
