WCR: well mocha pleasantly surprised us with another green amps. I have gotten so used to peter saying 3-- when I ask what her number is as I'm getting breakfast ready that when he just says a simple "88" I usually have to ask again, what did you say? :-D But it doesn't get old hearing a nice number.

Last night we got hit by a brand new 8in of snow so peter is out shoveling so I can make it to twix's last vet appointment. Keeping fingers crossed her blood work comes back normal today and we can put this mess behind us!

Wow! WOW!! Great start and great numbers overall.

We didn't get the snow in Chicago. I'm very happy that it missed us, too.

Happy shoveling to you. I'm still trying to figure out why we got 11" and my BF, who only lives 20 miles away, got 8". It should be the other way around.

Sending good vibes to Twix today, and for Mocha, way to go on that 88 this morning!

Wow! I'm so happy for you, Devon. Mocha is just outstanding lately. :mrgreen:

Yay that today is last trip to vet for bloodwork. No doubt it will be perfect, and this is the last you have to worry about Twix. :smile:

I got many inches of snow. Haven't been out to see how much. At least it's not windy.

So happy for you, Devon.. I know we have all felt your frusturation with Mocha's progress since being in Lantus Land & there are no words that can begin to express how happy I am for you. I saw Libby's post to you yesterday & your reply.. but don't write it off too quickly.. I put a lot of weight in her words of wisdom ;-)

Well I tested mocha right before I left at +2 and she was at 79 so I left some MC food down for her and got home at her +4 ... she is now sitting at 40 and not wanting her gravy because she would rather hiss and groan at twix. So she got locked up in our bathroom and I'm hoping she will eat up.

This is her first under 50 on dose .75 :mrgreen:

I can totally relate. Notice I'm not really saying anything either, just to study a different part of a spreadsheet. ;-)

You know what? This, right now, is the time you have been waiting for. Mocha is on a small dose of insulin and surfing blue/green all the time. Even if this is the last dose reduction she earns, you've done good. She is on a small enough dose that you don't have to worry much about hypo. Once she is done with the reductions (whether that happens at 0.75 or 0.25 or 0.1 or 0), you'll be able to back off on your mid-cycle testing and know that she is surfing safely on a small dose in great numbers, all the time. You'll have your life back, and Mocha will be healthy and happy because she will be off the roller coaster. That is a situation you can live with comfortably long term. If she happens to keep earning more reductions and get to zero, well, that's a huge bonus! But right now you have a tightly regulated cat. Enjoy it. :smile:

I remember with Lucy that OTJ was not on my mind much, after being on insulin for so long. I just knew that she was a fairly young cat and that we probably had 10 years of diabetes ahead of us, and I wanted her to regulated to the point where we could both have a good life for many years. Let's just try to keep Mocha on the path she is on now, and see where it goes.

You're doing great. IMHO, the sneakier you can be about reductions the better. Removing just a drop or two at a time when you need to is probably the best strategy, at least for now. Right now, the goal is to try NOT to let her earn reductions unless she insists. She WILL insist. :smile:

Thanks everyone for your kind words today .. Libby, thanks for posting all of that .. I really hope mocha can hold these nice numbers for a long time .. We have come a long ways with a lot of frustrating days in the past .. it's to bad we are so scared to enjoy this nice change of pace!

Oh and twix's blood work came back normal .. and she got her last day of fluids so we are all set! The vet told me to keep an eye out on her, just in case .. I told her she will be the first to know if something isn't right ...

I could so relate to that...afraid to even hold your breath awaiting each test, huh? You are doing awesome with her and all of us in LL are so happy to see this for you all.
