A much lower AMPS for Cobb this morning. That puts a smile on my face. Nothing exciting to report though. Sleep seems to be taking precedent at night right now. I test Cobb when he asks for food, so we do miss a few hours in there, but it's the best I can do right now.

Question...is there a zero carb food that I could give Cobb in that 2-hour window before his shot? He seems to get hungry right around then (although it could just be because he knows he can't eat). I had been doing boiled chicken but it isn't really tiding him over at all. I'd love some recommendations that I can find at Publix or Petsmart. TIA!!

Re: 2/20 Cobb AMPS 286

I would be smiling after seeing that #, too. WTG, Cobb!!!

Unfortunately, it's best to not feed between +10 and the next shot (that 2 hour window) as the # would be food influenced, and not a true # to shoot. He'll need to wait until after the next preshot time to eat.

I feed my kitty, Blackie, Evo 95% Chicken & Turkey, which I think is a 2% carb food (although, the carb amount may have changed by now). If you're interested in trying it, you can do a search online for it to see if any of the pet stores close to you sells it.

Good luck, and have a great day!

Re: 2/20 Cobb AMPS 286 +3.25 277 +7.5 381 +8 401(.1R)

Ugh. Not sure where these numbers are coming from. It's the second half of the cycle, presumably past the nadir so I gave .1 of R. I'd prefer for him to not climb any further.

Big drop for Cobb with the .1 of R in the first hour. I fed him 1/4 can of low carb.

Come on Cobb! Come on down from up there big fella!

I don't know if this is right, but I give Ole a protein snack after each test (except +10 and if he isn't bouncing) that I boil/bake myself. I get organic chicken breasts, checking the ingredients for sugar or salt, then boil them for 10 minutes or so and then shred them up. I also give raw and cooked chicken, beef and calf livers every once in a while, and sometimes fish. This summer I plan on catching Ole his very own little trout fishy.

I hope you are well Suzanne. Work that R Cobb!

Well , other than the initial drop, I don't really see that the R did anything. Maybe it kept him from going higher? There's really no way to know that. When I took the needle out after shooting the R, it was bent. It is such a small amount I never feel the plunger go anywhere so I'm only guessing he got it.

Hey,

Yes, I never know if Ole got it either, but it always seemed he did. My intention with R for Ole was to keep him flat, not to drop his numbers. That's why I shot him at the beginning of the rise, and only a ToR. I feel that L is the ultimate and R is only the aide. I wanted to get to a point with L that R was unnecessary. I'm not sure that any of this thinking is right though, it was just my intention

To be honest though, I don't think I will ever use R again, after the incident, no matter what. I ruined it, because it is a good and powerful tool.

I hope you have a good night Suzanne and Matts and Cobb!

I think your hesitation is completely understandable after the incident.

I guess my intention is to bring his numbers down. The time he spent down in the blues really spoiled me. I've decided right now I'd like him to stay consistently under 250 and see what happens from there. I'm kind of at a giving up point to tell you the truth. I don't see him going into remission, and at some point I'm going to have to say enough on the insulin increases...diagnosis or not.
