I have restarted Rusty on his Lantus due to his numbers creeping up. However, I have noticed that his demeanor changes after the injection.
For example, I'm posting early today because he had a great desire to eat before I gave insulin/as I was testing him. However, after his injection, he almost immediately lost interest in food, and within a half hour began meowing and acting restless in the room, attempting to walk around and even wanted to hide in the closet. This happened yesterday as well, resulting in the need for Mirataz around lunchtime to make sure he would eat something independently.
*I always feed immediately after injection but he is not Rx Cerenia or onadestron*

Would this be due to a drop in BG following dose? Can he be having an adverse reaction to Lantus?

I did attempt yesterday to only give him 0.25 AM, but it barely made a dent in his numbers.

Welcome! Sorry Rusty isn’t feeling great lately. It sounds to me like he nauseous. I’d ask the vet about trying ondansetron. Stimulating appetite when nauseous can lead to food aversions. Skipping insulin with the bg she has had lately is not a great way to go. Has her thyroid been checked recently? Tested for pancreatitis? Can you syringe feed if needed? Then you could give insulin if the bg is over 200.

Usually when the bg drops the appetite improves. I think he’s nauseous. .

Thyroid still normal. No mention of pancreatitis in last week's labs. I can syringe feed but he is still strong enough to resist and I don't want him to aspirate.

It's obvious that he's nauseous, it just seems to always happen after insulin administered. When he was off insulin, the numbers went up but he did not need Mirataz, he ate by himself.
