Yesterday
Raja has 3 Ps so far today. She seems to be doing very well for herself....cuddling on the couch with me at night. It IS wintery here ya know...in the 50s so it's a good thing to stay close on a winter's evening, right? She even comes to bed and stays for a few minutes by my head...LOL....be she leaves quickly. Maybe she is trying the spot out for size. LOL.
We took Roxie to the vet.....she my DD's new 6 year old cat. She rescued her from a male friend of hers...who was feeding her dollar store dry food but said he was going to have to find a new home for the little sweetie. She is an orange kitty who was named "Rocko".... :-|
Well, the name had to go! And she responds nicely to Roxie...close enough and fitting for a feisty little cutie!
She adores my DD!! She was very leary at the vet office...very alert but accepting of things...untilllllllll the vet opened her mouth and noticed the red gum and resorptive tooth on the left side of her mouth. Needless to say, a dental is scheduled and "Grandma" (that's be ME!) Has to take her in this Wednesday morning.
God knows what ele they will see in her moth when she is under.
Good news is her blood work came back great and that is a good thing!
Guess she was only at the vets' when she was spayed years ago...
She is one lucky little kitty to have found my DD. And, I am lucky that I can do my very favorite thing in the whole world with yet another kitty...a DENTAL.... NOT. ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile
Since DD has to be at work early, it will be my job to get Roxie in the carrier and bring her in for the procedure. I already questioned the "Metacam" shown on the pre-dental chekclist. Yeah, ok...do Buprenex please....
Question: Bupe is okay to use for a serious extraction, right?
Well, anyway, that's all the news around here....hugs to you all!

First of all, congrats on becoming a new grandma! Roxie is a very lucky little girl to have found your DD AND you! Good luck on the dental - I have to get my drooler in for one soon. He was supposed to have one last year, but somehow I never got around to it. I've never had a cat get extractions, so I can't answer about the bupe. I love Raja cuddling with you in those frigid 50's temps! I hope you have the fireplace going too! ;-)

Hey Pat,
I see that Raja is looking great. Nice AMPS!

Congrats on the new grandkitty! I hope her dental extractions will go well. I would think that Bupe would be the best for pain, since everyone here seems to use it when pain is present. You will probably get an antibiotic, too. Perhaps put a :?: in your subject line to get recommendations on what antibiotic people have had prescribed for dental extractions.

50 degrees! Wow, that's cold , and if the Groundhog saw his shadow today you are in for 6 more weeks of WINTER. So don't put the woolies away just yet!

Hugs from us,

Ella & Rusty

Raja's SS is gorgeous!! So when do we get to see photos of the grandkitty?

My vet has always given bupe for extractions. I believe that Gabby's been given clindamycin when she's needed an AB after a dental.

Remember to ask if the vet is giving a discount for dentals -- it's National Pet Dental Month!

I agree on Rajas SS. Perhaps she could send a memo to all the other lev kitties on how she does it ;-)

Also agree with Sienne...clindamycin is the best A/B for extractions. Be sure you also tell them no convenia! It's not good for extractions but I think some vets like it because it is "convenia"ent   the bupe is also fine for extractions. Be sure you have them X-ray her mouth after the extractions, as well as before, so they can be sure all the roots and any bone chips are out and not left behind to become infected.

You are such a great grandma!
