She ran under my car and I didn’t want to scare her… then she went off for a loo break down the garden.. eventually I corralled her back so the first test after shot was 90 mins… 88. I’ll keep her in now and do another in 45 mins..

Thanks Staci… it’s a bit daunting when most people on here are in bed. I’ve had to make a few calls that we’ve learned from that I could have done with some advice on but I’m SO happy that I found you lovely people!
I’m going to find another podcast today.. I’ve been so stressed that I’m not taking in the info but I’m on a mission to learn as much as I can now!

It is so overwhelming at first. I read the same things over and over again and still didn't understand most of it. I will say once you can practice what you're reading, it does become more clear. Experience is the best way. And of course ask any and all questions you have.
You'll get it, soon enough.
I think you're doing great and Arya is lucky to have you.

Thank you Reagan.. yes, I’ve found that.. the only way I’m understanding is with actual practice .. I feel like such an idiot sometimes but I’m glad that people jump in to tell me I’m doing things wrong… as I’ve said before.. the vet wasn’t very good at explaining anything, even simple things like pre-testing! She also said once we had done a few wks of post shot testing we could stop testing all together!

Learning feline diabetes is like getting an advanced degree in a subject you didn't chose. It is hard in the beginning, but you'll get there soon enough. In the mean time, there are no bad questions. We hang around to help because we remember how hard it was, and we had someone helping us too.

I’d say “you have no idea how much you are appreciated and how much you’ve help myself and my little Princess..”

But you probably know…. having been in my position yourselves..

My spreadsheet looks like I missed an hour … it was just time spent looking for her and messing around with the flipping monitor turning itself off as I went to test and having repeat.. so it’s 3 tests over 4 hours. A little higher this time.. shall I give her a little break and test in 2 hrs?

It takes a village....

If she's been an hour-ish and basically steady numbers, you can slow the frequency of testing. Unless you just want to gather more data in case this happens in the night.
 
All blues and greens today.. but she’s looked awful today. Wide eyed and lethargic. Having said that I think she’s harbouring a fur ball (cause she’s started grooming herself again and even a daily brush doesn’t much help) and it’s been over 40’c…
