? 2/19 Pudge Diarrhea today… :( idk why. AMPS 136 +2 92 +3 100 +4 98 +5 113

..nugget just had diarrhea, like projectile.. TMI WARNING:: he did so good getting in the box but it was all in his backside hairs.. this has never happened before. :( hes so upset.

any thoughts?.. read everyones comments on Ondansetron and Mirataz.. not stopping the Mirataz at all, he will get it if he needs it, just how much to give now? I was using his inappetance as a gauge but now we’re doing Ondansetron every 8 hrs.. if i find he doesnt want to eat, now w the Ondansetron, then thinking he will get some? Not throwing it out or anything ..

Could Ondansetron do this?.. but I was told the issue there would be constipation... is it just his kidneys/infection?.. :( is it the Miralax?.. the Mirataz hasnt been stopped that long.. we gone long before?.. :(

oh no now hes licking himself.. is he gonna be extra sixk now?….

if anyone can offer help.. plz. 💔

Stop the MiraLax for a while. That’s first.
 
It’s not the Ondansetron. That is known to be constipating (as Aluminum Hydroxide Binder can also be.) What other meds is he on (Mirataz I know. It won’t be Cerenia causing it either.). Isn’t he on Zenequin. I have never had diarrhea in my cats with Zenequin but any antibiotic can cause diarrhea. You can give Slippery Elm, a quality probiotic, and S. Boulardii.

he got the B12 tuesday.. and started Ondansetron yesterday morning.. maybe Milk Thistle?? butni been really slow I thought and he needs it.. 🫠 Zenequin stopped few weeks ago.

Oh poor baby! I hope he feels better and you get the battery for the car resolved quickly. The last thing you need right now!

Boy do I feel the whole "it never rains but it pours" nonsense. Glad you got the battery! Poor Pudge, that sounds so uncomfortable.

My mirataz use has been trial and error. When I was giving Gen the full dose from the box, I noticed after a few days that he was acting desperately hungry and gobbling up his food much faster than usual, so I cut the dose in half. At one pointI just tired going without for a day, but he wasn't eating super well, so then I gave him some. I think that's how @Albert & Xander handles it ... he'll go without, but if he notices Xander's starting to eat less/with less enthusiasm, he gives him a little (starting when he sees early signs of inappetence, not waiting until he just won't eat at all, because it doesn't kick in immediately).

💘💘🫠 will get back more later tonite when can.. but came home to nugget just being sweet laying down….... no diarrhea so far.. 😭❤️‍🩹💘❤️‍🩹 he ate.. and got fluids.. and i think i kight have his eye checked cuz for some reason it looked dark to me but when i put my light into it didnt look too bad…. Idk. we have appt tmw for second opinion.

now left again cause we needed supplies and now going in to look at him.. time for dinner and shot time too.. 💘💘💘🫠

most certainly.. 💘 food sensitivities and so we just still doing turkey.. was actually thinking to change cause the Limited Ingredient Merrick he been on long long time now i heard was being discontinued.. but i called and was told no it was a supply issue.. so idk. 🙄

right.. 💘 thats how i judged and judge it now too! i startes seeing him off food.. got some Mirataz.. but that mightve been remaining nausea since Ondansetron is better for that…. and i was trying to move the time to a better schedule tonite to try to guarantee he get his meds (like avoiding overnight.. as its 3 times a day..) and nugget is feeling a bit bad now.. i had to sorta pill his Ondansetron.. but we managed. thinking to give him some Mirataz after thats supposed to kick in…. did i mess up badly? :/
Of course we had good overlap since yesterday i could wait a bit.. was hoping tonite as well soni could move the time… *cries 🫠

problem now is hes sorta feeling bad as was trying to move the time to a better schedule tonite to try to guarantee he get his Ondansetron (like avoiding overnight.. as its 3 times a day..)... i had to sorta pill his Ondansetron.. but we managed. thinking to give him some Mirataz after thats supposed to kick in…. did i mess up badly? 🫤

Of course we had good overlap since yesterday so i thought could wait a bit.. hoping wouldnt be problem as i moved the time…… UGH. 🫠
 
I don't think you messed up (not sure why you think you did); I don't know why Pudge isn't feeling his best right now, but I don't see how giving him anti-nausea meds (which he's been taking without problems) would cause it.

I generally give Gen his ondansetron at mealtime. I think that may have been in the directions, although it's kind of a moot point, with my morning schedule he pretty much has to have everything at once (insulin, food, other meds) since then I have to leave for the day. I only give it twice, and that's been fine for him. You may have to figure out what intervals Pudge needs via trial and error, but also, I don't think it helps to get mad at yourself for every tiny shift or every sign of discomfort from him. There is no exact right way to handle any of this, and you're juggling so much. And there are so many reasons why he might not be feeling great at a given time. Try to give yourself a little grace, okay? ❤️

you right.. 💘💘💘💘.. ohh I meant me moving the time to later he ended up not feeling good.. 🥺 but I have to know these things I guess to be able to medicate things properly.. like if I didn't wait too I wouldn't know duration..

and of course you're right.. I know.. im just hard on myself because I detest all of this and wish we weren't dealing w it. I wish we had healthcare for him that was competent and not a mess.. he need an antibiotic to try and so this just goes on and on.. idk. 😞💔

Is there a reason he’s not on an antibiotic (if he needs one?)
Maybe I missed that piece of information?

💘💘💘 well we think theres an infection but no one has offered one.. he was on Zeniquin at my request but was stopped at 3 weeks cuz values continued to go up.. (kidney courses are usually 4-6 weeks i read..) the recent vet agreed on an infection but both his cultures came back negative and didnt offer another one still.. and theyre not back in til Sunday i guess.. or idk when. Id have to call. we getting a second opinion today..
