Yesterday, fur shot recovery day.

2/18 Recap:
AMPS 247 +9 202
PMPS 165 +4 160 +9.5 120

Much better start this morning. :) Neko's happier too. I got some post shower leg licks while I was toweling off. That was a pre diabetes activity that used to happen all the time, so I'm happy when I see it. Even if it is ticklish. She was trolling for cuddles so got tummy rubs with her purrs too.

Last night I started trialing Duralactin for Neko. It's a concentrated milk protein concentrate intended to help long term inflammation, which Neko has with her arthritis. I was prompted to investigate it when I saw another high dose cat have success with it. I did discuss it with Neko's acupuncture vetty and she confirmed that it should be OK for Neko. She has no experience with it, but did go on line and check what other vets have seen and what the research says. She said to go ahead and try it. The one possible side effect is carbs, although it may be ECID. It didn't seem to impact Neko's numbers last night.

Happy Fursday everyone.

Hi Wendy,
Good luck with the Duralactin. I hope it will work for Neko. How long before you should see results?

Enjoy your day. Not many more days to wait before you'll be on the water again! (we envy you!!!)

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty

It is made in liquid and powder form, although I've heard it's hard to find the liquid form. What I'm using is a capsule that I just break open and add to Neko's food. It's not a product that can be used with cats that can't drink milk, but Neko used to get the occasional treat of cream so I know she's good with it.

Fascinating. I can't wait to hear what kind of results (if any) you get. Good luck with the trial!

Much better PS today. Headed for the lagoon, Neko? Cinco beat you to it! But there's always room for more!

@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) - I've seen some get results as soon as a week, some longer. Busy time ramping up for on the water, getting equipment ready, DH does a lot of work with safety boats and engines as well as the shells. Check out this video of rowing on ice. Might be an option for you right now. ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZfDWukFh9I
Wow, that really looks like you can cover some ground/ice. But I think we'll wait 'till ice-out. By the way, the video that follows it was very helpful: fascia release.

Great morning. Nice numbers, leg licks, cuddles and tummy tickles...yes, a great morning.

Keep us posted on the Duralactin. Hoping for good results.

Add me to the list of those waiting to hear progress reports for Miss Neko! I wish I could trial the stuff myself, except I am lactose intolerant. Fingers crossed for you!

Have to love it, the days are getting longer and it's fnally light at AMPS time for us- I feel like spring is definitely here! Daphne and flowering plums bursting into bloom- too bad it's going to rain for the next couple days.

@ Elise, Tricia, Carla, Suki, Liz, Julie, Ella, Patricia, Ruth - Well she dipped a toe in the lagoon, in spite of not quite having a full depot and getting Duralactin again. I'd like to give it a good trial and will up the dose if I need to.
@Tiger and Ruth - It's supposed to be dry and great solarium weather here for a few days. We've got trees blooming here, as well as rhodies and camelias. Are we going to get a shaved belly pic of Tiger? I did see one mention of Duralactin used for IBD.

Great news that Neko is doing the post shower leg lick! Every return to normal behavior is :):)

Beautiful solarium day.....I hope that also means the excavators are done.

Good luck with the Duralactin!
