Very early this morning (1 AM) I took Gus to the ER vet in the next town over. His vomitting had subsided but he had begun to yowl in pain when moving his bowels. They were liquid, orange, and smelled metallic. I woke my husband and told him that I needed to do this myself and asked him to please understand. I lifted Gus up to wrap him in a warm towel for the ride and blood began to come out of his rectum. He didn't even acknowledge anything about what was happening. I knew then that this was the time for good byes. There is nothing that I can write here that could come close to describing how I feel. I am a crying, heartbroken mess. I can't believe how fast he went from doing so well Friday afternoon....to this. His struggle with pain is over. Gus and I had this past year together because of the selfless and loving guidance from all of you here at FDMB. You gave us the gift of time and that is priceless. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart and the flutter of his wings. You are in my prayers of thanksgiving always.
