Marilyn's Today 2/19/2012:

PM+12.0 = 161
PM+13.0 = 157
PM+13.5 = 163

Morning All, I've been searching "high and low", but can't seem to find Marilyn's ProZinc dose. So far, 1.6 units keeps her in diabetic numbers. However, 1.8 units has her back to her old tricks. On 2/12, 3-cycles in on 1.8u she started to take one of her familiar dives. You can't see all of the detail on her Google Docs SS, since it is in the form of a comment on her Excel SS. You can see though, that she went from 295 @ PM+4, to 156 @ PM+6, which is a 47.1% drop in 2-hours (is that correct?). I don't know if that seems like a lot to you guys, but I just can't allow her to dive like that...her bouncing will be endless.

So I went back to the 1.6u and stayed there for 5 days. There's not too many spectacular moves on 1.6u (other than her food spikes); no dives, decent duration, and it looks like she has nice stable "ProZinc numbers", except they're still too high. Then I tried the 1.8u again, starting with the 2/18 AM cycle...which I shouldn't have done because I was really tired, couldn't stay awake, and probably missed a "too low for Marilyn" number. Her PMPS "Black 514" yesterday clearly shows a bounce. It's her first pre-shot black BG on ProZinc...don't count the 2/15 "Black 513"...that was a rebound, induced by "R drama", from the previous cycle...long story.

Okay, so 2-cycles in on the 1.8u, she was too low to shoot this morning. I tried to stall, but after 1.5 hours, she was hungry...so I shot 1 unit. So the first time on 1.8u she started to dive...this time...too much duration. I suppose the obvious answer is to eyeball 1.7 units, which isn’t impossible, since I moved in 0.25 units on Lantus with the u100 syringe. I was just wondering if any of you have found your answer in a 0.1u difference with ProZinc...or maybe someone can see something I'm not seeing...that's usually the case.

Thanks so much. Have a happy Sunday.

Deb

Yes, amazingly enough. Check out Lisa and Cassie's ss. (bookworm). She gets numbers too high at 1.1 and too low at 1.2. So the .1 can make a difference. That's the first thing I would try.

Maybe decide where you think 1.7 is on a syringe. Mark it as a sample with a marker or tape and use it as a guide to help keep the dose more consistent.

If you are still struggling after that tiny of an adjustment, might be time to explore with food changes - amount , schedule, carb count etc.

Sue,

Awesome, it sounds encouraging. I'll take a peek at Lisa's SS...although other folk's spreadsheets usually perplex me. :?

Thanks,

Deb
