Day 31 @ 1.68 Units Lantus

Good Morning......I fed Yoyo 1/2 can of one food and 1/2 can of another food last night to see what his BG numbers would do....well the one food definitley affected his BG level last night. So this morning I will give the canned food that I believe lets his BG levels go lower. From what I am finding is that the food that raises his BG has 2% carbs but potato starch is a listed ingredient. I think that the potato starch is raising his BG levels.
This is so strange to me with such low carbs.....if the carbs are so low then how can potato starch even be in the ingredients? I guess a phone call to Weruva is in need!!

Have a wonderful day and I hope all kitties stay safe:bighug:

I hope Yoyo slides down and surfs today. I hope you can figure out what is going on with the food. It may just be that it affects some cats by raising their BG. :bighug:

It is a well known brand cat food and the carbs are real low. So in the beginning when I changed foods I never suspected that a food could do this to his BG. When I finally compared the ingredients I realized that the potato starch is the culprit. Since I haven't been using this food that long, I don't know if they changed or added ingredients to this food. But Yoyo sure reacts to it. Today I am feeding food with no potato starch. Let's see if he drops into lower blues/high greens. If not, I am more confused then ever.

I think it depends on type of starch. Not all starch is high glycemic, however nutrition certainly not my forte.

Thanks again....after you wrote that I went and checked his food that is16% carbs and that food has tapioca starch. The 16% carb doesn't raise his BG like the 2% potato starch food does. I didn't realize the difference in starches....thank you!
I still don't know how the company can label it as a 2% carb food.
