Getting this posted so late but Marge, bless her heart and soul, was here until now. She took me to Lowe's where we were able to get a sturdy rubber carpet runner for my hall and a metal gate with a swinging door for the entrance to the living room. Then, she proceeded to install the thing and her patience is astounding. Thank you Marje for everything. I can now work on this issue without having to contantly clean up pee from the rug.

I just want everyone to know that Morgaine is now safe and will have all the time she needs to heal. I am going to ask the vet for some pain meds for her neuropathy and see what happens with that. This AM she was purring and headbutting me as I prepared to feed her. She hadn't done that in a very long time. She watched the installation of the gate and isn't quite sure what to make of the new "floor" in the hallway but hopefully she will get used to this. I got the book that was suggested about retraining for the LB and will read that this evening to see what is suggested.

With my love and all the wonderful thoughts and prayers and healing vines from this community, we are going to get through this. The pumpkin has already helped her poo to solidify so I am continuing that and will discuss the prozac with the vet when I speak to her next as well as the possibility of pain meds. All in all, a decent report and a grateful bean, grateful to you all for your support, encouragement, and ideas and grateful to Marge and Mike for their patience and willingness to help us at this time.

Hugs to you. I am happy to see this post. I hope things start to work out much better for you and Morgaine.

Hugs to Marge and Mike for helping you out, too.

What a great solution! We had to put up a gate to Liz's office for a few months when Zener was going in there and peeing on any papers she left on the floor. Hope this works out for Morgaine! What great helpers you had!

I agree! Marje and Mike are TOTAL sweethearts! I am so glad to get your report, Rosalie. Paws crossed for finding a good solution.

You sound so relieved. This has had to be extremely difficult for you and for Morgaine. You are so devoted to each other. And Marje -- well, she's a force of nature! I'm glad you found us and there are people like Marje who can be there for you.

What a good report! And how great that Marje and Mike could help out. They are indeed wonderful friends.

We are keeping fingers and paws crossed that Morgaine will get back to her old, sweet self. It sounds like she is on the way. Have a fine evening getting used to your newly renovated apartment! We are thinking all positive thoughts for you and your kitty.

I know there is still a ways to go on this. There may be days that are less than pleasant. But right now, I have a huge smile on my face. :-D Bless Marge for her part in making the situation workable. We care very much for you and Morgaine. Take care of yourself while you are taking care of her.

What a wonderful report today on Morgaine and you and thank God for wonderful friends like Marje and Mike and so close there for you. I think the pain meds may make a difference hopefully, too, for her. Have a good night.

I am relieved and just spoke to Dr. W, Morgaine's vet. She said that she wanted us to get back on the prozac once her stools are normal and to cut it back by 1/3 to start. She believes, after telling her about Morgaine holding her pee for 14 hours, that prozac may indeed help this situation. She said that Morgaine obviously has that kind of control so it tells her a great deal about behavioral issues. I do agree and she said that the neuropathy is indeed a challenge but she didn't want to start pain meds now, not with the prozac. she said she would not use gabypentin but maybe a small amount of bupe, injected since I can't rub anything on Morgaine's gums without risking a nasty reaction. For now, she wants me to get the prozac started as soon as we can and then we will see where things go. I trust Dr. W. she is a very wise and knowledgeable vet. Thanks for referring me to her Marje! One drug at a time is her motto, especially these drugs.

She also wants me to increase Morgaine's insulin a bit and get her numbers down some. We are going to go to 4.5 starting on her next AM cycle. She has her SS and feels that her meter is probably lower than the actual labs would be and being above 150 and a little higher puts her up near and over 200 in lab ranges. This vet really does know her stuff.

Glad you talked to Dr. W.....she is wonderful and I agree with her 100% that Morgaine could use a dosecrease and get some green back into her SS. I do think it's smart to do one drug at a time....I was just surprised she wanted to stick with the prozac but if it works....it's wonderful. I have used the injectable bupe...it is no big deal but the needle looks huge compared to what we use.

Glad we got it all done and I hope Morgaine will not mine the hall runner. She was a good girl today!!!

And Marje -- well, she's a force of nature!
That is very, very sweet of Sienne to say that. Mike laughed and said....yes...like a hurricane, a tsunami, an earthquake   I told him, no...those were Acts of God :-D

Have a great evening!!

Morgaine took her first steps on the rubber floor and seemed fine with it. We walked to the sliding doors to get some fuds from the closet. She always follows me there as she knows where the FF chicken apps are stored and she seemed fine. And...then she christened it with some pee. It was easy to clean up compared to the rug!

Marje, you are a force of nature and you are also an Act of God! I am so lucky to be a part of this community and even more so because Marje is here in Tucson. So much to be thankful for. Morgaine is resting now on her new floor. So cute!

I am so happy to read this hopeful update. :-D I'm glad Marje was able to help you get set up and get some control over your apartment. And one drug at a time is a great motto! Rosalie, I am thinking of you and sending vines/prayers to you and Morgaine.

Reading this condo made me smile. I hope you both find your situation improving and Morgaine healing and learning her LB manners again.
