I've been down this road with Doodle before and just when I thought I was going to break him he got sick and then his BG was all out of whack. I do feel like I am in a good rhythm with him right now but he has been on insulin for so long, over 2 years (not with me the whole time. he was getting one shot a day for about the first year). Do I still have a chance with him going OTJ? Are there any other cats that had a similar situation?

I've seen one or two cats go off insulin after being on longer, but the first goal should be to get Doodle into good regulation, as going OTJ can only happen after that. He's looking good lately, just needs a bit more green.

Yes, I agree. I would like to get him into a good regulation, mainly because I want to get a dental done. He has been doing really well. Seems like 3-3.5u is where he likes to be. The last time at that dose he had good BG's too.
