WCR: ok so we are hoping for a better day today then yesterday. Twix goes for her bloodwork this morning from yesterday's flower incident and mocha might have given me enough of a yellow to shoot out and see my uncle for a bit. Of course, she could be yellow because she wasn't very happy that twix's carrier was near her testing spot. She hissed the whole time we were testing her. She must of thought she was headed somewhere! Have a great day guys!

Re: 2/16 mocha amps 209

calm down Mocha it's not your turn for vet visit. They do hate those carriers.

Good luck with Twix, hope all is well.

Re: 2/16 mocha amps 209

I missed reading your post yesterday and missed all the drama with the flower. What a day you had! Hope things go well today. Mocha, settle down, you are not going anywhere! Seeing the dreaded crate gets them every time.

Re: 2/16 mocha amps 209

Good beginning for Mocha. I suspect she'll be seeing blues and greens.

I suspect everything is fine with Twix but I'm sending good vetty vines anyway.

Re: 2/16 mocha amps 209

Oh, its impossible to tell her that the crate is not for her. They are always so skittish. Good luck today at the vet office.
A beautiful bouquet of flowers and they have to be put on top of the refrigerator....and yet, the kitties find them anyway. why is that? Such an ironic things, isn't it?
With roses, Raja comes into the room almost instantaneously with her nose in the air, sniffing. If left alone, she will rip the flowers to shreds and the table will be covered with broken rose petals. She will vomit some up later of course. When I put the bouquet out of reach, it is so out of reach that they cannot be appreciated as flowers should be. LOL. Like, on top of the fridge. It become such a hassles that bouquets are not even worth the effort or the money.
I am glad you got her to the vets' right away yesterday. Hoping she will be just fine now. Quick action Devon...good job.

Re: 2/16 mocha amps 209

Good morning, Devon!

(((Twix))) Poor baby! You did great, getting her to the vet quickly and managing to keep up with Mocha at the same time! I would have been glad to see that lily petal in her pukus; that was probably the last of it. I am sending vetty vines and hope her bloodwork comes back OK. I had no idea Twix was part of your family until I read yesterday's posts... forgive me for being out of the loop.

Miss Mocha Jo looks like she'll see some blues today for sure, maybe even green?

DH brought me two roses on Monday and luckily my furbabies show no interest at all.."just catnip, thanks" they say!

Re: 2/16 mocha amps 209 +4 82

Ok well I left mocha with some food at her +2 so I could go see my uncle. When I got home the food was untouched and she was at 82 so not sure if that drop is from not eating or just a nice number.

As far as twix goes, her blood work today came back normal but the vet recommended doing five days of subcutaneous fluids to help flush her kidneys. Either tomorrow or when all the fluids are done she will do more blood work and if that comes back normal then she will say we are out of the woods. I feel bad twix is still up there but I haven't had the call to come and pick her up yet. The vet did tell me that after today I can come in with her and leave with her after they are done, but if it is going to be a few hours each day I really can't just sit up there waiting. I think they said today they had some surgeries to do though ... I sure do miss my twix .. she's ALWAYS asleep in the basket right next to me at the computer desk.

Re: 2/16 mocha amps 209 +4 82

Glad to hear the good report on Twix. Since it is squids not IV, couldn't you do it at home? Lots of peeps do and it should be a lot cheaper as well as saving a lot of time. cat_pet_icon

Re: 2/16 mocha amps 209 +4 82

Twix is not the type of cat to let us treat her for anything. She barely let's me hold her, maybe for less then a minute once a week if I'm lucky .. I don't think peter has ever been able to hold her, shes the love me from afar type of cat ... I just called up to the vet since I hadn't heard anything in a few hours .. they have not even STARTED the fluids yet because they were doing surgeries all morning. So poor twix has been in a cage up at the vets by herself not even getting worked on .. Dang, that does not make me happy but what can I do?

Re: 2/16 mocha amps 209 +4 82

usually subq fluids only take a couple of minutes for a vet tech to do, so I bet if you said you were staying with her tomorrow they would take her right in, give the fluids, and send her home. It doesn't take hours, but I'm sure since you left her it was easier for them to do the surgeries first and do her afterward. Probably if you tell them you'll be there first thing in the morning and that you'll wait, they can get you in and out in 15 minutes (at least that has been my experience).

Also, it would probably be a lot cheaper because they wouldn't have to charge for hospitalization and they might not even have to charge for a vet visit (tech visit only, or charge it as a followup visit).

Re: 2/16 mocha amps 209 +4 82

I think tomorrow I will take her up in the morning and then wait for them to do the fluids right there. I'm also juggling seeing my terminal uncle and I don't have a cell phone so I feel housebound since I want them to be able to reach me. Today I gave them my moms cell phone number but I can't always borrow that either. I just wish they would call. I know she is scared.

Re: 2/16 mocha pmps 276

Awww Mocha thought she was going in the carrier? I also have to take mine out a few days ahead of time, so Checks won't be suspicious; otherwise he dives under the bed, and it takes an hour and a dust mop to get him out.
I bet you get in and out quicker tomorrow, because you won't be going in the morning before surgeries. Besides you'll be sitting there waiting. Poor little Twix.
