well he was hiding under the bed. I think he thought we were going to the vet so at the last minute he came out to eat so I did give insulin. I know thats bad but he
has been so traumatized this week I didn't want to add to it. I will be home in a couple hours and will be able to test him then.

Re: 2/16 Java No AMPS

I know exactly how you feel, overwhelmed, panicky, worrried--Nothig we all havent felt--
Moonie was the same way in the beginning--Then I introduced cooked chicken before I tested her--She got so involved with eating she hardly knew that I was testing--Now she comes to me to test her!!

Moonie went ballistic in the beginning, but once I started to feed during test & shot--It worked--
Never show the cat a needle--and Try not to let Java see the syringe--They are like little kids that way!!
I'll be back later & will look for any tests you do--Please put food right in fron of him (dried chicken purebites)
or real chicken to divert the interest! Good luck!

I agree with the treat approach. I put the bag of freeze dried chicken beside us and some chicken out and ready for him to go for once the insulin is given. So he's thinking about the chicken. He purrs for tests now. Gets a reward every time.

I got him when I got home. 246. YEA! He has been really good about the testing, I use the treats like you all suggested and then feed after BG, then insulin. I think what freaked him out was the fact I got dressed before we did our routine and he thought I was going to grab him and take him to the vet. He is sleeping on top of his tree now so I think our bad day is over. He has been through so much and been so good. Thanks for checking on us. I am really glad I listened to you all and backed the dose off to 1.5. It made me feel better about shooting blind today.
