She let me scoop her pee!! flip_cat I tested ketones that way...now...the color of the strip turned into a color that is not in the chart though grr_red It turned into a graysh color, not into any pinks of purples...so I guess that's good. Im so I glad I can do this now. The Precision Xtra Ketones strips were going to drive me into bankruptcy!

Bought a Petsafe 2 feeder. We'll see how it works. I have to leave her isolated anyway because if not, the cat-vacuum-machine sucks up all the food available to her.

Yesterday I went to Petsmart and bought 2 tubs of Freeze Dried Chicken treats called "Beefeaters". Enana actually gagged when she smelled the cube. Funny! ohmygod_smile I stopped by Petco today and bought Purebites...I hope she likes these :shock:

No, I captured the pee with a measuring ladle :-D Someone gave me that idea. Was it you?

The past two weeks are a blur. I don't know who told me what, when or where. I think that in my fogged-up-state I was rude or impolite to some people here :cry: I'm actually a nice person :oops:

The Beefeaters are chicken. They come in a 2 oz tub. When you open it, it has a very weird strong smell.

You should consider yourself honored. My Kitty wouldn't let me scoop HIS pee with a ladle! :lol:

Amazing how small things can cheer us up in Lantus Land. :mrgreen:

I don't have a gray color on my ketone strip chart. Maybe, you could test yourself? The strips are good for 6 months after opening. I'm so glad you were able to get a sample this way.

I dont know what changed but since a couple of days ago I am hurting her every time I shoot her. I try to shoot in different places every day. http://www.bd.com/us/diabetes/page.aspx?cat=7001&id=7374 and I pet her and brush her...nothing.

I tried giving her treats today and it didnt work. She feels it a lot.

According to the Ketone Care Strips I have traces of Ketones in my urine. *sigh*

I wouldn't worry too much about hurting Enana... Willie goes through phases of being sensitive or not. You are likely hitting a nerve ending, which is more just uncomfortable... but it is for a brief period of time.

Congrats on figuring out a system for measuring ketones!! I have a hard time because Willie seldom does his business while I'm around! I try to get tests in on the weekends.

Fingers and paws crossed for better numbers on the new dose!! Until then, have a great night!

Thanks Christie. I just watched a bunch of videos on how to inject a cat. *sigh*

In the little box I have I cannot do what I did today. It is inside an enclosed space with a door, but since she became diabetic, I'm isolating her from my Civvie (he is a cat-vacuum-food-machine) and put a new LB in the bedroom she stays in (which is my computer room)...it is the first time I have ever seen her doing any number. Weird.

Glad she liked the purebites. I don't think I've read of a kitty yet that hates them. Expensive but worth every penny.

Hmmm maybe you should check your BG. I checked mine and I got congrats on my green reading :lol:

Not sure about the strips vs the electronic ketones tests. I wonder if there is anything about it on their website. What brand did you buy?

I find if I have to redraw insulin - if I accidentally push out too much - it dulls the needle. You aren't reusing needles right (just in case you are).

The difference between the strips and the electronic (if that's what you mean) is that the strips test ketones in the urine...and the electronic in the blood. Many times, for what it was explained to me in the hospital Enana was in, cats have a high concentrations of Ketones in the blood and it doesnt show in urine test. I think that's what they said. She was so high, it scared me to death.That's why I got the electronic ones. They are expensive! Im glad I can test her with urine.

I dont reuse needles. That scares me too.

I guess I'll be buying a better brand tomorrow.

She is dropping very very slowly. Anyone knows if there is an explanation for that? Is that normal?

I went looking for information about the Walgreens Ketone Strips. Most of the reviewers said that it gives the wrong reading! :evil:
