2/16 Budesonide question

My cat Max is on Budesonide for IBD and takes the 1 mg capsules daily. I ordered from Chewy this time though because they are less expensive than Vets First Choice. About half the price, but the capsules are larger. My question is, can Budesonide capsules be opened and mixed with food or is that one that you shouldn’t open? Anyone else use or have used Budesonide?

It depends upon the type of budesonide. Extended release is granulares,not a powder. Does the label say extended release? It may be abbreviated..
Swallow the extended-release capsule and extended-release tablet whole. Do not break, crush, chew, or open it.

If you cannot swallow the extended-release capsule, you may open it and mix the granules into a tablespoonful of applesauce (not hot). Swallow the mixture whole. Do not chew or crush the granules. Take the mixture within 30 minutes. Drink a glass (8 ounces) of water right after.

Swallow the delayed-release capsule whole. Do not open, crush, or chew it. Take this medicine in the morning, at least 1 hour before a meal.

I know the instructions seem contradictory since one part swallow whole but also says mix with applesauce.
When I uses extended release capsules I go the 3mg human capsules and divided it up into 1/3s and put other meds in a capsule too.
