Good morning all
All the kitties are staring at each other...just sitting and staring. There's been no tormenting this morning..that's good. Maybe after 4 years, they're accepting that they actually are family ;-) No one wants to go on the porch...too noisy as it's pouring down rain. All Ps and a good shot this morning. I'm going to get new insulin today. We opened this vial the end of Sept. I'm going to blame Ollies grumbly numbers on old insulin.. the other option is to bump him back to f2. He was doing really well and now we're creeping up with less greens. :?
I pray for all of our beans and kitties. Please be well. May the broken hearts heal.

What a nice start today - a pretty blue! Good luck with the new juice - hope that slow and stops the upward migration. Surf well today Oliver!

Love the stare down. That rakes me back to the days when we had 5 kitties here. That was the morning routine - that stare down. then one would raise a paw... and the whack-a-thon started. Good memories!

Hi Mary. Great to see Oliver with some nice numbers and in the green lagoon. Fingers crossed that the new vial if insulin keeps him there and no bump needed. Isn't it great when they all get together?

Is it less expensive to buy the Lantus in a vial vs the pens based on the number do days they last instead of initial cost? We bought a box of 5 pens on Sept 25, 2012! About 20-1/2 weeks. Since then we used 3-1/2 pens so we have about 9 weeks of insulin left (mid April). I think the cost for 5 pens was around $225. That's about $7.65 a week.

hi John,
ok, my math skill are less than perfect..to say the least. but here goes.
I think we spent about $150. on the vial. i'm using your start date, since it's so darn close to ours. so we're at 20.5 weeks. ( I have 1/2" of insulin left, so we've used 3/4 of the vial.) is this a correct formula? $150 divided by 20.5=$7.32/week.

If that is correct then it's about the same $/week. That's if i have to pitch the rest of this vial. I haven't gotten to the store yet today to buy the new insulin. ( It's raining way too hard to run from the car to the store.) Ollie got to his 49 on the old vial.

BUT - do we have to throw in that Ollie has been on a much higher dose than PurrFace? so he would use up his insulin faster?

The way to do this might be to take the total amount of the insulin in the pens and divide by the cost and then do the same thing with the vial and see the cost for each??
my vial says 100 units/ml (10ml Vial) = $15/ml
How much insulin is in the pens?
I'm thinking i may want to buy the pens just because you can open them one at a time.

Nice job on the threat today Mary! I see Oliver responded very well to it and made a comment about the vial too. :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :lol: Maybe you were just seeing the high before the low. Nice job today.

Sorry about the rain, that sounds REALLY hard and heavy. Hoping it'll pass over soon.

he's giving you nice numbers for Valentines i guess.,, 4 years and still not accepting, I had one with Noni for 5 years but didn't get them to love each other ;( sad I had to sent him for adoption, he was so jealous as I take care of Noni more than him because of testing and shooting he thought I was giving her something special that he should have too ;D I also had to test him sometimes to made him less jealous :lol:

Nice green day even with the old insulin. We could only get about 45-60 days out of a vial and I always threw out at least 1/2. I can use the pens to the last drop, which is about 30- 45 days. The vial was $130 and a 5 pack of pens is $225. It was much more cost efficient for us to go with pens. Happy valentines day!!
