2-14-23 Scared to leave town

We're heading on vacation in the morning. I'm giving Kaia 1.5 dose and giving her some crunches as we won't be home to give her food during the day. I'm really nervous to leave her this trip!!
 
Who is looking after her while you are away?
How long are you away?
Will they be testing the BGs
Will she eat well while you are away?
Will they feed her during the cycles?
Have you left some ketone sticks so the carer can test the urine if she is worried?

We'll be gone from the 15th to the 22nd
My sister is watching her
I'm pretty sure she will eat (that is the only reason I'm leaving crunchies)
She will only come feed and medicate her twice a day... she works.
I do have ketone testers but doubt my sister will stick around long enough to test.
What would cause DKA?? I guess I worry more about low numbers, do I need to worry about higher?

Make sure your sister leaves out plenty of food for her during the day and at night as well as the 2 main meals. Is she th egg only cat?
Even if it’s dry food. You need to make sure she eats.
And gets the insulin. They are the two main things to be worried about in relation to DKA.
tell your sister if she gets lethargy and won’t eat to get a ketone test or take her to the vet.
I’m sure she will be fine. :)
 
Day 1.. at the airport... I text my sister I gave Kaia her insulin before I left. She wouldn't answer her phone. She didn't read text and gave her insulin AGAIN!!!!
