Well, poopy! We lost our condos from this morning and yesterday. boo. :sad: Oh well.

Shasta is having a very blue night...odd?! :razz: Everything seems to be good with her...meaning...all Ps are present. However, in my original post this morning, I had a question for everyone/anyone...

Has anyone every had an instance where your kitty's lick has become "weak"? I've noticed for a month or so that Shasta's lick has become very light/weak. It used to be like sand paper on my skin, now it's definitely not like sand paper. In fact, I barely feel her lick. Very strange.

Don't get me wrong, she's still got spunk...she got ticked at me this morning for not feeding her right away and bit my foot!!!! Nothing serious, but just a warning bite! :lol: Talk about a grumpy cat!!! Anyways, is this something I should have a minor freak out over??? Originally, I was just thinking it was a symptom of her "geriatric" stage in life... ha! After all that went on yesterday with the unexpected...I don't want to leave any stone unturned. I called the vet to schedule a visit and possible blood work. The fear/worry - she will most likely need to be sedated in order for them to draw blood (because she's evil) and the dosing for the sedation is tricky with her because of heart problems (techinically undiagnosed - saddle thrombosis). nailbite_smile

Prayers go out to Michelle and DH & Lyresa and DH. Also, I just found out that one of my dear friends just lost her fur baby yesterday, too. I noticed that she had posted her story/question on the Facebook Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia Awareness page (on Monday) and by yesterday, he had declined dramatically and they chose to free him from his pain. Oh lordy, I'm not ready for any of this. :sad: I know, I know...love more now; pet more now; hug more now; scritch more now; worry and cry later. Where's that damn fountain of youth?! Forget about it for me...I want it for my cat! :YMSIGH:

Did you get an appt?
a weak lick... maybe she's in a mood? or she just prefers bites? I get that from Shadow... sometimes she's gentle and other times,
she's a cat trap! :o :-x
Sounds like a good idea to have the tests run to see how she is faring...


It is rough lately. Lots of sad happenings.
All we can do is count the blessings we have and enjoy each day. They are always too fleeting.

Yep, fountain of youth for the cat! :lol: :lol: Maybe you taste bad? Put some tuna juice on your finger and see what she does.

You two are funny! :lol: I don't think I taste bad (although I keep eating meals w/ beans included...maybe I do taste bad?! :o ) She's NEVER been a soft licker! It's funny...I HATE when she licks me...hand, forehead (great way to wake me up in the mornings), leg. Now that I can barely feel it...I'm a bit freaked out. Also, she's always in a "mood"...but if this is a mood...I want my old cat back! ;-)

Rhiannon - they are going to call me back tomorrow regarding an appointment. I called at the end of the day to set up an appointment, but since he's a new vet for us, I didn't know if he wanted to sedate her or not and that will affect what time I need to bring her in. So, the assistant was going to check w/ him when he finished w/ the patient he was in with at the time and get back to me...tomorrow. :YMSIGH: I'm all nervous about the possibility of sedation.

Maybe he could just give her a lighter sedation that makes her less agitated... quick to wear off.

Funny how when I take Shadow in , there will be 3 of us, holding her down, ready for whatever was coming and she didn't fight...
we were expecting the worst.... and ... nothing... guess she was scared stiff...
I always get where she can see my face and if she's gonna bite, I want it to be me...
 
Yeah, I always fear the worst behavior from Shasta...and we get the worst behavior! :shock: Now, granted, there's always an anal sac expression in her visits, so...I'd be really pissed off, too! And like you, if she's going to bite someone, I always try to keep my hands closest to her face!

UGH! I don't know why, but her numbers tonight are slightly freakin' me out. She's never had a curve like this. NEVER! It's scaring me. @-) I just checked her LB and there were 2 small pee piles (little larger than half dollar in diameter - normally, it's 2 pee piles that are at least twice, if not three times larger than half dollar) and 1 poo (well, a few small pieces...you know what I mean!) :lol:

for some reason...
now I've got pee piles, and poo piles and licks, oh my! in my head. ( like lions and tigers and bears :lol: )

i should be under observation. :lol:
