Hi Folks:

Well we had a long night here because of weather and I didn't get Scooters bg till this morning. I won't be switching the family over to wet food today since we can't get to the store. I want to make sure Scooter and Jack have enough if we get snowed in for a while.

Scooter is feeling good today and toasty warm near the radiator. It is a blizzard here and lots of action helping other folks start and fix vehicles. Phone is ringing off the hook. Lots of folks off the road as well.

I so appreciate all your suggestions about how to switch over and I will use them all. I do have one other question. This morning the needle came out of Scooter all bent up. I think he got the inulin in as there was no wet or smell on him. This has never happened. Is it okay?

Thank you thank you! :-D

Re: 2/13 Scooter AMPS 337

Good morning! I'm sorry about the bent needle...I did that the other day when Chyna had an ouchie shot and jumped at the end of injection  . It didn't seem to affect my kitty but I guess time will tell? Good luck with the switch to all wet food, when you do it, that is awesome :-D . I hope Scooter can show you some nice yellows today! Stay warm, and safe!

Hi Linda:

Bummer about the weather messing with your menu plans. It's always something, isn't it?

Good luck with the switch. I'm sure you'll get them converted eventually.

Glad to hear Scooter is feeling well. No matter what the meter says, if kitty is happy, mama is happy, right? :-D

We've never had that experience with the needle, to my knowledge (my dh does the shooting, but I'm sure he'd tell me if that happened), so I can't shed any light on it. If he didn't cry and you didn't find any insulin on him, I'm betting it's all right.

Hi LInda. Sorry about the weather. Yikes!!! I hope you stay safe and warm.

I've never bent the needle coming out of Gracie; I suppose it depends on whether you got all the insulin in first. As others said, time will tell but I'm thinking if you didn't smell or feel it on his fur, it's probably in there. It will just depend on whether you got it subq where he can absorb it.

Re: 2/13 Scooter AMPS 337,+4-260,+7-290,

Hi Linda,
Every once in a while we bend the needle, always when it's an "ouchie" and Rusty pulls away. The shots have always gotten in, however. If you don't smell the insulin, it got in. But as Marje suggests, it could absorb differently if it got deeper than skin level.

Don't worry about it.

Re: 2/13 Scooter AMPS 337,+4-260,+7-290,

somehow the fact that you have 13 kitties didn't stick in my head - i'm impressed, linda.

and impressed again if i already said that! my brain . . .

no ideas about the needle, although i've had it happen as well. hopefully it all got in there and he's going to sail on through that misadventure without any consequence!

good luck transitioning the kitters to canned food. i fed punkin at preshot and +3 and he survived the 9 hours in between. not always without complaint, but he did survive the horrors of having to wait for food. :-D my current crew gets fed twice a day with an evening snack. They also think they should eat more often.

i don't think anyone would want to buy 13 timed feeders, plus it might be tricky to make sure your more timid kitters got fed. they are noisy!

thanks Ladies!

Julie I was just pricing the 13 feeders! Thanks for the page on transition!

It appears that Scooter came down to yellow today. I am thinking tomorrow might be good so crossing my fingers. :-D
