It looks like Sam is really hard to regulate. A 0.# increase/decrease and his numbers go ballistic.

Yep, he was very stressed out last night, he got a turd caught in his butt fur and we having a hell of a time. I finally got it out though.

If he's long haired, you might consider a sanitary trim - shortening the fur around the orifices, along the inner legs, and just under the tail base.

Yes, he needs to be shaved under his belly and around his butt and tail. I'm no good at it though I try.

I picked up professional hair cutting scissors from Sally Beauty Supply. They work well.

Also, they havea variety of hair thinning tools - scissors that only cut small sections of a lock of hair and razors with guards that may be 'combed' through the fur to thin and shorten it gently.

I have a small shaver for horses that works pretty well, but I think it pulls his undercoat. Sam has very fine hair.
