Shadow & I had a long night of periodic testing!!! her AMPS was 246 so she got 1.25 again. Hopefully she will allow me to continue with the 1.25 for 6 cycles. So we can see a pattern. Looks good from here.... At one point she was down to 83. She had me a little, well a lot nervous! She has a good appetite this morning. Gave her little over 1/3 can of FF mixed with H20. Purring alot!
Going to take a power nap before a +1 check then off to work. I hope everyone got some rest.

SHADOW IS SEEING SOME HIGH NUMBERS TODAY? ANY THOUGHTS?

Good morning!

A couple of hopefully helpful housekeeping hints...

It's helpful to put both the date and your kitty's name in your subject line. The convention on this Board is:
date kitty's name AMPS-#, +hour-#
2/12 Shadow AMPS-246​

On Shadow's spreadsheet:
If you test at +9.5, that number goes in the +9 cell. So, you'd want to move the 99 from last night over to the +9 vs. in the +10 column. Since you saw numbers that are less than 100, you want to make sure the cell is colored green. The color coding is across the top of the SS.

Shadow is seeing some good numbers. If you're getting nervous with lower numbers, you might think about giving Shadow a teaspoon or two of low carb food and doing exactly what you did -- re-test in a half an hour. There are instructions for dealing with low numbers whether it's a low pre-shot number or low numbers during the cycle. The information is in the Shooting & Handling Low Numbers sticky. Quite often, there's someone around almost 24/7 if you need to post and get help.

Hi guys .. wooohooo, showing some nice greens already shadow! Those first few lower numbers can be nerve wracking but soon you won't think anything of it! Have a great day guys!

Those first greens can be scary but then they become addicting. You want them all that way.

I'm so happy to see Shadow responding so nicely and so quickly.
Those greens are healing numbers for that pancreas. :mrgreen:

Wow....what a busy night for you! Shadow is looking awesome - and you are doing amazing with all the testing, too! Those early greens are scary, but as Rhiannon said - they are addictive, too! Those high greens/low blues are what we want - they are ideal for pancreatic healing and overall good health. You do get used to them, and with the amount you're testing, you will have no problems keeping her safe!

Looks like Shadow is doing really well for so soon...already in green numbers is wonderful...and yes, they are very addictive!

wonderful to see Shadow in such good numbers! it's kind of hard on the sleep, though, isn't it?! ;-)

Just an fyi - you're watching for her blood sugar to dip below 50. Everything above there is great, but if she dips below 50, that's time for you to take action. It's not panic time, just time to pop open a can of high carb food, put the can lid back on and squeeze hard to get out just the gravy. give her a teaspoon of it, then post here and ask for help, or refer to the link Sienne just gave you on how to deal with low numbers.

She's responding very well. it's good to see her blood sugar coming down out of those high numbers.

Being the first time! Very difficult to sleep. I am a walking zombie today! I know it will get easier in time. As both her and my comfort levels ease!! Thanks for the advice I will be sure to keep it in mind when she approaches 50

Yes I hope that the lower levels are helping her body! I hope that the levels return back today too!!

Amy & Trixie thanks for stopping by! I think Shadow is feeling good, but I am pooped. Tomorrow I have off from work so Shadow and I will be snuggled up in the snow storm!! Can't wait!!!!

Hi Sienne & Gabby! O My Gosh I was a little out of it as I posted incorrectly heheh! I fixed it then saw your post!!!!! Thanks for your advice it is nerve wrecking as she was getting so low! I was scared, good scared I suppose haha I hope in a few weeks that will sound silly. But for now, its new!
