.... and maybe not.

Grace was a lovely 95 this morning, so Hollis didn't shoot, but by noon she was up to 220. Sigh. Still hoping she will go down on her own, but maybe a skinny 0u SID now?

Cannot second guess this cat!

I think we have talked about carb manipulation before, but I can't remember what Hollis is doing. We have had a few cats (Ronnie's Luna comes to mind) that still needed insulin, but bottomed out quickly with even a tiny dose. Ronnie switched to a slightly higher carb food for a little while and I think she spread it out over a few mini meals early in the cycle to help keep Luna from dropping like a rock. It would take some experimentation to figure out when to feed the meals to help keep Grace flat.

Here is Luna's 2009 spreadsheet: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key= ... utput=html

It looks like the change to Wellness occurred on 11/7/09, but Ronnie did a lot of food experimenting before and after that and kept great notes, so you can see some things that may or may not work. It took a while, but Luna eventually flattened out and was able to go OTJ. Luna was previously eating EVO 95% (0% or 1% carb) and the Evo was I think 3-4%. Janice/Johnny did something similar last year. They didn't need a lot more carbs, just a little bit. For some reason I'm thinking that Michelle/Doodle also spent some time feeding a 10% food because Doodle did better on it.
