Good day everyone!

Morgaine did very well on her first dose of prozac. She tolerated it without any problem. She was a bit sleepy and less anxious but I expected that she would be a little bit out of it and she really wasn't. She has been eating with her usual love for food and that is good. She used her box, well each box, once. she poo'd in the pine litter and pee'd in the clay litter and then pee'd on the rug as well. My understanding is that prozac can take several weeks to kick in fully. I am losing some of my patience with this but maybe that is a sign that things will break and she will stop the rug peeing.

I hope the Prozac agrees with Morgaine. It sounds like there's more of her using the box, but still some peeing on the rug! Fingers and paws crossed this will help her.

You have handled this whole issue so well. It's not just a case of being patient, there's a difficult physical aspect for you too. I hope the Prozac helps Morgaine. Sending use your LB vines for Morgaine and strength of purpose and patience of a saint vines for you.

beautifully spoken, Linda...
and I second that emotion!!!!!!!

With humans, Prozac takes the longest of the SSRIs to reach an effective blood level -- at least a month. If Morgaine should need any other medications, remember to ask your pharmacist (vs. the vet) about drug-to-drug interactions as it also takes a while to leave the system.
