Working with Karrie, all set for Lantus Land, need dosing advice.

Will up date spread sheet with numbers I have, she has been on this dose for 24 cycles...I just started home testing..3 days ago. Working on profile. As of three days ago, she is on low carb, high protein diet.

Hi Susan,
Welcome to Lantus Land. You will get amazing help here

Edit - Susan is going to do a curve tomorrow. I told her about the rice sock on how to help the ear bleed. She's having a little trouble drawing blood. Using the one touch ultra mini. Up until three days ago was feeding a mix of kibble and wet food but switched them to low carb wet food. I've explained the basics of lantus, the spreadsheet, how lantus land works. Its a lot to take in as we all know. I'll help her set up a profile tomorrow. She's been on this dose for 2 weeks - every 12 hours. She is also HyperT but is high normal now.

A housekeeping note... The link to your previous condo/thread isn't active. You need to have the URL brackets surrounding the text. You can simply cut and past the info (e.g., http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/view ... =9&t=36401) if you don't want to be fancy. Otherwise, your set-up would be:
what you want to call the link.

It sounds like you have more data than the info from today that's in your SS. It looks like Chirpie is getting 1.5u of Lantus. Once you have the 24 cycles of info on your SS, we may be able to give you some input regarding dose.

Re: 2/11 Chirpie AMPS Dosing Help/CURVE

Chirpie; I will be doinga curve tomorrow, and on Karrie's advice I will be getting new .33 cc needles, for more accurate dosages.
I don't have a picture of chirpie on line as of yet, but just for everyone to know she is a pure white domestic short hair, and is absolutely adorable. She has 2 brothers and one sister. I can't believe this site is here...THANK YOU!

Sienne - she only started testing three days ago at home so there won't be much data.

Susan - the syringes I got at Ontario Medical Supply were:
"Kendall Monoject safety syringe 3/10ml 29G x 1/2" u 100 insulin syringes.

The BDs will be fine for you initially. They are 30 or 31G (finer needle) .3cc 1/2unit markings u100 syringes. I got them at the independent so I'm sure your rexall will have them. Make sure they have the 1/2 unit markings.

Sorry., Karrie. Data hound that I am, I saw the 24 cycles and got excited!!

Susan - whatever data you have will help inform us. By any chance, has your vet done a fructosamine level recently? If so, if you can get that info or and curves that may have been done by your vet, that will also give us more data.

Welcome to lantus land!! My both cats Chirp at me so I think they will love Chirpie!!
I use the BD 3/10ml/cc, 31 gauge 1/2 unit markings syringes 5/16" (Wow that is a mouthful!) and they work just fine-There are several syringes on the market, but I use these as we started with them--
Testing is hard for some of us, took me a long time to get it, but then both you & your kitty will get used to it--
Ask questions, read the stickys, someone is always here to help!

Welcome, Susan & Chirpie!

you'll like it here...it is a fun and healing place full of great knowledge and support!

hi Susan

do you have your saturday AMPS yet? When you do, start a new thread for the day ok?
others will want to know if you are around to monitor and gather more numbers, I see you are fairly new and getting the hang of it, just letting you know it does get easier!

EDIT TO ADD: by the way, when you have a chance, could you let us know in your new thread if you can:
-what dose Chirpie was started on back in December.
-how did you get to 1.50u.
-one more question, have you been testing for ketones? Any history of it from vets?

Hi Susan...and welcome to you and Chirpie! Would you start a new condo (thread) for Saturday? Just link this one to the first post. And I was wondering what kind of meter you are using...see you in the new condo!
