2/10 Honey ambg 76,+4.5 107,+7 85, pmbg 87 OTJ Trial Day 7

I've been testing Honey later than when she had a shot.
That lets me have a lie in on the weekend :o and test her after the kids have gone to school during the week.
It also lets me feed her 2 hours before ambg.

So, I tested her at pmbg +10 and then fed - got 135
2 hours later, got 76

2 questions:
  • -should I be concerned about 1 high number per cycle? I know its if she doesn't eat for a while - I put food down overnight but Monster scoffs it within an hour.
    -is feeding and then testing for ambg cheating?

hmmm.. I don't know if that's cheating.
I kept testing at normal times... or really close to normal times during the trial. Didn't go random until afterwards...

one odd number doesn't take it away.... it's what the trend is....
You are far enough into the trial now to think it's all Honey. The shed should be gone. She's doing these numbers all by herself.

can you space her meals differently to try to prevent those highs? It's not a huge big deal because she is bringing herself down after food, but the idea behind feeding frequent small meals is to avoid over-taxing the pancreas as it learns to function on its own. We can do that by trying to minimize food spikes so it doesn't have to work as hard to bring the numbers back down into range.

I've seen cats get pretty far into their OTJ trials and then it's like the pancreas gets tired and gives up. No biggie, we just resume insulin until they're ready for another try, but it's nice to try to prevent that.

Thanks both.

Libby - she doesn't seem to have food spikes, but none-food spikes.
It happened again this afternoon - I tested her at +4.5 and got 107.
Then I fed and tested at +7 and she's back to 85.

I agree with the frequent, small meals - I just don't know how to achieve that through the night with Monster being such a scoffer.
When I've got up specifically to try to feed her at pm +8 or +9 she isn't interested and then he eats it all within the hour. :evil:
