Hope you start showing us what this new dosage can do... You did with 2.75 then stalled and now with 3 haven't really showed us anything. Booger.

Day 3 on 3u and no affect this time, or as of yet, hopefully.

He may of course be dropping at night and you're not seeing it.
Always getting just before bed test is a good habit to get into and will give you a better picture of where the insulin is getting him. Many kitties actually go lower at night.

There seems to be one pmps missing, last night, I see you had a test earlier in the day, this does not however gaurantee that he was still high when you shot some 7hrs later. It's very important to always get that ps test in, these kitties can really suprise us, I've had George nadir, occasionally at PS, as low as 50, when the previous test has been at +5 and he was in yellow/pink.
Good luck with the new dose I hope you see some better numbers soon.

I've been wondering how to address this...

I am away from home at least 2x a week in the evening for his PMPS and shot. The person who takes over for me has no issues giving the shot but I have trained them and talked them through testing him 4x now and even have had 2x sitting down and going through it with them physically. They cannot get blood for some reason. I have no issue, one little poke and I have a big ol' blob. But for instance the other night they tried poking him 5x before they gave up and I okayed them to give the shot because I was home 20 minutes after the shot. That 2x a week is now moving to 3x a week. I just tried teaching them to test him again yesterday night since we increased his dosage and it really worries me, but again, with me sitting right there I cannot see what they are doing wrong but they cannot draw blood for some reason - were as I just lean over and do it *boom* just like that.

Any advice? I don't want him going 3x a week without an evening shot...

Oh dear.
At least it's great that they are willing to give it a try.
What human meter do you use?
Are they doing it free hand or with a lancet device?

I have a friend that looks after George when I go away, she struggles with the meter I use most of the time, it requires a lot of blood, so I always swap and let her use my back up meter which uses much less blood. I wonder if that would help?
Can your friend see what they are doing?

Have you tried showing them some Utube videos, there are a few on the Hometesting Link Post http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/hometesting-links-and-tips.287/
I found them really helpful, I watched a few until one just clicked with me.
I use the lancet device, because I find it easier, but I found that you do have to hold the ear firmly and press it up against the lancing device, if you don't then it won't prick the ear.

Does Harley sit still for them? George is a real pickle, he's very good for me sits still, but he really plays up for DH and my friend, DH is comfortable being firm with George as is my friend but she has had to wear gardening gauntlets, because he's been naughty and scratched her hand, there was so much blood that she didn't know which was his or hers:eek::rolleyes: yet when I do it he sits and purrs away like all he's getting is an ear rub.
She found that it helped to give George a treat, before and after, I also recommended that she get him used to her handling his ears by sitting with him and tickling his cheeks and rubbing his ears, which he loves, that seemed to help, he has learnt to sit still for her.

Don't give up, it just takes some people longer to get the hang of it, and it must be harder when it's not your cat.
