Normal morning here. Two small meals so far. He isn't much of an eater, but did ask for food at +2.
OKay, he went counter-hunting, for food.
I wish I could find something that he really loves. With only supermarkets near me, it's nearly impossible to experiment.

Question at end post.....thank you

How about on-line ordering? If you're somewhere that you can get a few cans of different foods, once you find something Checkers likes, you could order on-line by the case. I actually wonder if you were to contact one of the manufacturers (e.g., Wellness, Merrick) and explain your situation, if they would send you a sampler of their LC foods.

Re: 2/10 Checkers amps 331 +2/129

Sienne, one time, Susan brought me an assorted stack of cans from PetsMart, and he liked someof them once
Last week, he was crazy about Wellness Turkey and I thought I'd hit the jackpot. Next day, he hated it.
I wouldn't dare buy a case of anything.

Nice slowdown there! Come on and surf right here Checks!

I think we spent nearly 2 years searching for LC fuds Tess would consistently eat! Don't give up on some things. Tess will periodically reject something, then after a few days off like it again. it takes them a while to get used to something new. have you considered making raw/ You can get premixed supplements and just add it to chopped up chicken meat, no need to grind the bones. Try a few bites of raw chicken next time you cook it to see if he would lie it.

You asked about the BG Turkey, it's Merrick Before Grains Turkey, 1% carbs and fairly low phos too. Most places only have it in the 3oz cans, but Petco does have it in the 5.5 oz.

After that +2 I thought we were going to be treated to an exhibition of sky diving. But he seems to have pulled up nicely.

I hope you're feeling better Barb.

Before I write to Jill begging for help with food management, would someone please explain to me, why this red number would be a bounce?
It was 202 point drop, in 2 hours in the morning. Is that enough to cause a bounce like this?

Was I to know enough to feed a MC at that 331 amps? Last time I tried to avoid a drop by carbing a high number, he went even higher!
He had lc snacks at various times.....no carby food at all. LC supper @+10.5

Ann, I've offered Checkers raw chicken, he touched it with his tongue, and took off.
He loves cooked chicken, but it doesn't have the nutrients a cat needs.
He likes a lot of things....once. I have a refrigerator shelf full of open cans, as lots of people on here, have said they also do.
My local farm store sell Merrick. I'll look for the bg turkey. He loved the Granny's Pot Pie, at first too. :YMSIGH:

Good grief, I just don't see what the heck he's bouncing from....if this is indeed a bounce.

Re: 2/10 Checkers pmps 498 +1/457

I do think that drop and the green number would be enough to cause Checkers to bounce (he seems to have bounced nearly everytime he's hit the green floor) and I definitely would not have been carbing him at the AMPS but I'm no expert so - bump

Re: 2/10 Checkers pmps 498 +1/457

Any fast drop can trigger a bounce, and over 200 in 2 hours/ Oh yeah! ohmygod_smile i get worried when Tess does more than 50 points in an hour.

   on his reaction to raw, i guess that's out. There are recipes for cooked home made food though. Even raw chicken isn't balanced on it's own, you need to add supplements, especially taurine, b-complex and fish oil. There are others I can't think ou offhand.

So my question is; If I shouldn't carb a high number, then how do I get him to not drop a hundred points an hour, when he has a high PS to begin with??

Hi barb - I agree with Ann - and drop can trigger a bounce - it sure does with Mannie, especially the fast ones: like checks 200 in a couple of hours.

I wish I knew the answer for you. I know you test alot so you do catch these drops. With Mannie I test every hour, sometimes more when I suspect he will drop like checks does. I also feed him each test (a tsp, no more), when he is dropping fast. at first it was HC, now I can get by with just LC. I remember the other day when the HC sent Checks up so high. I wonder if maybe that one day was just a fluke?, maybe it would be worth trying that again? I know you don't want him in the reds, but maybe then you'd know for sure? well... hopefully others will chime in with some other suggestions...
