AMPS - 211
+2 - 350
+6 - 311
PMPS - 253
+2 - 345
+6 - 186
+8 - 232

I think I'm starting to notice a pattern of the PS being in the 200's and then +2 being in the 300's. I wonder why that is. The insulin wouldn't be bad, would it? I've made sure to handle it properly by not injecting air in to it, by not rolling it, keeping it refrigerated, not injecting excess insulin back in to the pen, etc. What else could be the problem? Either way, it's a bit frustrating to increase and increase and increase only for the numbers to not budge at all. I know not to focus solely on the numbers, but it's hard sometimes.

Re: 2/1-Tip-AMPS-211 +2-350 +6-311 PMPS-253 +2-345 ??

+2 might be higher if Tip has a later onset than the "typical" Lantus curve. That just means that the Lantus might not start working that early in the cycle for her. Her nadir is also later sometimes, so that would make sense.

I know the increases are frustrating, but Tip does get some good response sometimes. She just loses momentum on a dose and needs a kick-start to get things going again.

I'm not here as much as I used to be, so forgive me if you have been asked this question a million times. Have you thought about having her tested for a high dose condition? It might be helpful to rule those in or out.

True. I've been thinking about testing her later on in the cycle rather than just at +6 just to see.

It's fine, yeah, I have. I suggested it when at the vet on monday, but it never really went past that. Instead, the vet focused on trying an antibiotic to see if the recent increase in numbers was from a UTI. I'm still giving the antibiotics a bit of a chance to work, but come friday the 8th or monday the 11th(I get paid friday and vet has really shortened hours on saturday) I'll be asking again if we can get those tests done.

if nothing else, the testing can give you some peace of mind. It doesn't really change the treatment very much, you still give whatever amount of insulin she needs and take care of whatever other health needs pop up. I remember, though, when I got Jazzy's positive result for acromegaly, I didn't like the diagnosis but it did make me feel more confident that I was doing everything right and that her dose was just fine for her. If the result is negative, then you can feel happy about that and also know that she is just a cat who needs more insulin for whatever reason.

It's always a relief just knowing what's wrong, even if it doesn't change the treatment especially since I can sometime be one to worry until I'm sick unless I know what's wrong.

Re: 2/1-Tip-AMPS-211 +2-350 +6-311 PMPS-253 +2-345 ??

Cindy, my Neko is one of those cats that seems to onset later (unless she is coming down from the previous cycle like last night). I was getting a lot of +2's higher like you are with Tip, then down at +3. I then switched to +3 tests and it's a better indicator (for me and Neko) of what her cycle will be like and it's one less test strip.

Okay, I think I'll play around with getting some of the odder test times, like +7, +3, stuff like that. I know Tip likes to change things up the moment I get used to a pattern.
