FDMB Family, thanks for reviewing Rex's numbers and the advice.

My plan is to keep him out of the green and more in the blues. I am comfortable with giving him 1 or 2 tsp of LC food to slow the dropping BG.

** Personally I have left my employer of 25 years (American Airlines) to start a new job in IT. Scary and Exciting at the same time.
I had only work for Disney in high school and then AA so this was a big deal for me.

Hope everyone has a great day.

hi Rich
flatter numbers today so hopefully less chance of a bounce.

Good luck in the new job!

Nice job today Rex! Keep sailing those smooth waters and stay away from the storms. He did drop quite a bit at the beginning of last night, so glad to see he hasn't bounced from that. Good job shooting that 188.

I hope your new job will let you work from home occasionally if Rex needs it. Congrats on the new work, change can be exciting.

Still looking good!

@ Wendy - yes the new job lets me work from home if I want/need. Good for my Rex

Number look good - looks a little similar to 01/29/13 so will monitor and take action as soon as we dip into the lower blues.

Strategy is to keep him from bouncing.

Also started his migration from Purina DM can to Merrick Cowboy Cookout.

Rich, welcome to this crazy kitty sugar dance. You asked about syringes in our condo. We have been using Monoject syringes with half unit markings and just switched to Terumo syringes which also have half unit markings. I don't know of any syringes with 1/4 unit marks. For the amount of insulin Tess needs (4 drops), the monojects read about .25 units, but the Terumo are about a half unit. The zero mark lines up differently on different syringes. You just have to be consistent. This is probable a lot more info than you wanted.

How fast does the everyone switch out food?

Rex does NOT have any eating issues - he eats like a champ - He will eat anything/everything.

But would you still suggest a slow cutover?

Tonight I swapped out 1/8 of a can of his new food - Merick Cowboy Cookout.

Oh - And does anyone use Neosporin when testing? I wash my hands before and after testing Rex. But should I put something on his ears to help heal or leave them alone?
His ears look fine, but want the best for him.

Hi Rich,

Neosporin with Pain Relief is recommended. It'll help with healing and the sting. Here is Marje's post on shooting and testing tips if you haven't seen it already.

You could try a complete switch on the food, as long as you are monitoring like you do already. Going from DM to Merck isn't as drastic a change as doing away with dry food.

That page is awesome. I must have glanced over that section.

Perfect - His ears look fine right now (I rotate), but would like to maintain his healthy ears. And I like pain relief option.

Will pick up the ointment and not the cream. Learning every day!
