PMPS 144 I was busy all day and didn't get to Mikey's condo until now. Nice blue PS again tonight, though the morning's was yucky. Still not getting quite the numbers I want. Obviously the insulin is still working because he does drop; I would like to try a new vial still, but can't afford one right now, so it will have to wait unless it stops working completely. I still think some of it is the needles...they don't seem to be consistent. The first time I drew tonight, I wondered if I got ANY insulin. On that hunch, I squirted it out on the sink...there was a drop but it was tiny, not the full .25U. I drew again with another syringe, hope I got a better draw, but just don't have much faith that these are consistent.

I can't find the BD's I like for under $28...does anyone like the Relion syringes, or have another recommendation? I'm using Monojects now and they are what i want to get rid of.

Earlier today:
AMPS 243
+2 166
+4 126

It does seem like when he gets those mid-blues during the day, he surfs longer and has better PMPS numbers.

Re: 2/1 Mikey PMPS 144 Syringe Recommendations?

Hi Amy,

I used to use Relion syringes. They worked for me until Sara was on small doses. The barrel is skinnier than the Monojects I tried. So you had to have good eyes. I had some problems with that small dose too. It wasn't that I thought the needle wasn't pulling the insulin out it was the bubble family. You may have met them. If you want to try the Relions I could mail you out a few to try. Then you can at least see if you like them without 98 left over. I'd be happy to do that for you. Just pm me your address and I'll send them out.

Mikey's looking good tonight.
Have a nice night.

Re: 2/1 Mikey PMPS 144 Syringe Recommendations?

Which BDs were you using? The UltraFine II's cost around $30 at most places. ADW has the 31 guage 5/16 inch ones with no half unit markings for $18.99 but it's only 90 in a box, not the usual 100. You can also buy it as a case of 5 boxes.

I could never get Monojects to work with Lantus :-Q Too many air bubble problems. I used mainly the BD UltraFine IIs with Lantus. I did get some freebie Relion insulin syringes from someone once and those worked well.

UltiCare, GNP, and SureComfort are other brands you can try. They're around $13-$16 for a box at Hocks.com and probably at ADW as well.

Re: 2/1 Mikey PMPS 144 Syringe Recommendations?

I had been using the Relions with Pro Zinc & hated the air bubbles, plus it seemed as if the "zero" mark (the first line) on them was sometimes crooked & not always the same place. I switched to Monojects & the first couple of boxes were ok but then I started having air bubble problems. I never thought it could be the insulin! I ordered the UltiCare from ADW but really hated them (I guess it's just a personal preference) so out of desperation I went back to Wal Mart. I noticed the box had changed from blue to white. Theses syringes are much better than the ones I had gotten before. I almost hate to say it out loud for fear the next box will be not so great! I don't have air bubble troubles & the "zero" mark seems consistent. I really like these. It's worth a try but make sure you get the white box. I don't know for sure but I'm thinking they must have changed manufacturers or at least have better quality control.

Re: 2/1 Mikey PMPS 144 Syringe Recommendations?

no suggestions - it seems to be a common problem, especially for people with very sensitive cats or tiny doses. the ones i have now (terumo from hocks.com) aren't consistent in their zero marks either.

Re: 2/1 Mikey PMPS 144 Syringe Recommendations?

Dyana said the same thing about the Relions.....she has used them for a while and complained to the manufacturer about the inaccuracies. She also noticed they had changed the last time she got some and that they
were much better.

I'm still using MJs but also find the zero line to be inaccurate; I'm going to see what the Relions look like.

Re: 2/1 Mikey PMPS 144 Syringe Recommendations?

+2 76 That's more the number I was expecting with the dose increase; I must have gotten a better draw tonight. Now surf it, Mikey, and stay above the 50..we don't want to have to reduce so soon!

Thanks for the suggestions on the syringes. Maybe I'll give the Relions a try. I hate giving Walmart any business (SO glad I can get the Arkray strips through ADW), but if they are good, I'll make an exception. I was using these before: http://catalog.bd.com/bdCat/viewProduct.doCustomer?productNumber=328440. I liked them, but they are more expensive than other brands.

Re: 2/1 Mikey PMPS 144 +2 76 Syringe Recommendations?

+3 61 Surf, baby, surf...and have a pretty AMPS too, k?

Poor Mikey. He eats on the back of the stove, and tonight, the burner was still warm (ceramic flat top) when he jumped up there and he jumped back down and yelled at me until I moved his dish onto the cold griddle top on the other side. It wasn't hot enough to burn him, apparently he didn't like his little toesies warmed!

+4 79 On the way up, let's keep that nice and slow, and keep Mr. liver out of it!
