Re: ? 2/1 Gobbles AMPS 334 +4~251 +7~192 +11~189

His numbers have been falling since AM --- wow! Any Comments??? OK to shoot 1/2 hour early? (btw, he ate right after +11)

Re: ? early shot ? 2/1 Gobbles AMPS 334 +4~251 +7~192 +11~1

All I know is that Lantus is a 12 hour insulin, meaning it needs to be given every 12 hours. You'll need to get the advice from the experts. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them so I can't answer your question for you. Hopefully someone will be along shortly to advise you. Good luck!

Re: ? early shot ? 2/1 Gobbles AMPS 334 +4~251 +7~192 +11~1

thanks Angela...I'm leaning towards yes...but its only a half hour, so no biggie if I wait :)

Re: ? early shot ? 2/1 Gobbles AMPS 334 +4~251 +7~192 +11~1

he's not dropping, he has probably been surfing at around the same number for 4 hours. That's good, it's the way Lantus is supposed to work!

Usually shooting 1/2 hour early isn't a problem. Do get a test, though, to be sure he is surfing or rising. Next time, don't feed just half an hour before you plan to shoot. Now your +11.5 number may reflect a food spike, making it harder to tell whether any rise is due to food or due to the last shot wearing off.

I'll just give him his shot same time as AM -- 9:00 OR in light of the fact that he ate at +11 (8:00), would 9:30 maybe be better (which would be 1.5 hours after eating)?

Re: ? early shot ? 2/1 Gobbles AMPS 334 +4~251 +7~192 +11~1

no, don't wait until +12.5. Shooting at the regular time is fine.

I agree. 9 PM is peachy.

Re: 2/1 Gobbles PMPS 271

I'd say that 271 shows the rise from dinner. Looking good!

Re: 2/1 Gobbles PMPS 271

Not a big deal Kat. As long as there's a logical reason for a number, it's just a number. Just note in your SS comments that "PMPS 1 hour after eating".

You up for a +2 or +3?

Ok, I did  Yes, +2 or +3???

Re: 2/1 Gobbles PMPS 271

I was looking for an example on his SS...
You see what he did on the AM cycle on the 17th of January? That's what I'm trying to avoid. That +4 was an eye-opener

I'd go with the +3

yikes...ok...if he's about what # should I turn the Keurig on?

Re: 2/1 Gobbles PMPS 271

Good question. Luckily if it's a k-cup, it only takes a minute.

In a "typical curve", the +3 should be just starting to drop from the PMPS number. But the food timing thing has me perplexed. If onset is usually at +3 when you shoot right after feeding..... I'm thinking the +3 with food an hour early might be lower than typical.....this is just me thinking out loud through my fingers...

150? I'll let you know at +3, lol.

Re: 2/1 Gobbles PMPS 271 +2.75~317

OK, well that actually looks good. Not "good" in that it's still up there, but good in that it isn't way down there.

My crystal ball is fuzzy, but it doesn't look like he's diving early at least.

thanks Carl--do u ever sleep? back to bed here....test again +9 or +10

Re: 2/1 Gobbles PMPS 271 +2.75~317

LOL, yes, I do sleep actually. It's my schedule... It changes every week, and I have different days off every week. Once a month, I work 7 days in a row from 5:30 AM until 2 PM. You won't see me on late at night that week, but you may see a post at 5 AM! This week, well, I worked one day in a 6 day stretch, so I'm up late. I hate mornings, love late nights, always have. I'll sleep from 3 am till about 10ish on a week like this one. It's awesome setting your alarm for like 11 AM. You should try it sometime. The only downside to my schedule is that I never get really adjusted to it. As long as I can squeeze 6 or 7 hours of sleep into a "night", I'm good.

Re: 2/1 Gobbles PMPS 271 +2.75~317 +9.5~53

Wow, what a schedule! Don't work here... OK, at +9.5 Gobby woke me up--he was in a great mood--lots of purring, a few meows and real hungry. His BG at +9.5 was 53. Then he ate 1/2 can FF LC. I didn't do the 15 minutes, test, 15 minutes.... thing because it is only +9.5. I am keeping an eye on him.

He's rising fairly fast now.
I read in your Remarks in your ss from yesterday that you shot at 9:00am and 9:00pm. If you want to adjust your shot schedule a little bit today, you can shoot this morning at +11.75, or even +11.5. Just test first and make sure the BGs are still rising.

OK, thanks Dyana. I'm going to prepare his shot and test him at +11.5. He ate right after +9.5; therefore when I test him at +11.5 it will be 2 hours since he ate. So at 2 hours after eating, will +11.5 test reflect on his meal? I hope I'm making sense...
