Yesterday's Condo
Happy good Morning to you all! I am just stating the numbers and not getting emotionally involved with them.
(ok...inside I am jumping up and down! :lol: I am still holding my breath all the time and that's a bad habit. I think I need as much oxygen to the brain as possible...but I got up a couple of extra times last night just to check...feeling a little tired now. A nap in store today for sure!)

Shadow ate his breffis but didn't do such a good job on last night's +4 snack. I therefore set the alarm for the +7 check.
He is hacking on a hairball for sure this morning but so far, the coughing has been unproductive. He had his collar taken off for his meal and was licking his shoulder before you could say "bob's your uncle" so it's back on again upside down for the day. I put it on the proper way for the night time cause I think it's more comfy to sleep in that way. He has been kissing my face so much during the past two days and I finally realized it's cause he cannot touch it himself with that collar on. Poor lil guy. But he was so affectionate and purring like a motor boat this morning. He seems happy this morning with poops in the LB early.

He is a little worried about what the other kitties will say about this dumb collar when he goes to all the parties today. My two are such party animals and they are all ready to begin the festivities. Hoping that everyone will be able to catch a moonbeam and come to do the fll_moon festivities here tonight.

I am having my ~O) ~O) and now obsessing about the picture that Monique posted in yesterday's condo....
Is that a Schwarzwälderkirsch Torte Monique? Cause if it is, I will be there as soon as I can.... :lol: Thanks for getting me started so early in my morning...that is awesome...looks sinful!!

Anyway, today we're partying, so there won't be much time for surfing. I'll see you at Tuffy's party and at Vesta's party, and, later, at the Full Strawberry Moon party at your place. Wow, a great AMPS and start for the day and party. Maggie said to tell Shadow, she thinks of the collar as a necklace, so not to worry. A lot of boy kitties wear jewelry these days. I better get more coffee! ~O)

BTW, tell Shadow Six just saw a spread in Cat Fancy about e-collars - they're all the rage!!!!! Apparently, they are making a comeback on the catwalks in Italy, Paris and NY.

The picture is your Sachertorte, basically a chocolate-chocolate-chocolate cake (choco cake with choco creme and choco covering) Schwarzwälderkirsch translate: Black Forest Cherry Cake is a 3 layer chocolate cake with whipped creme and cherries (including the alcohol "Kirschwasser") between the layers and then frosted with whip creme and decorated with cherries and chocolate "shavings". It is about 10% alcohol and 2 peices means you over the limit to drive!

Uh.... I'm very quietly saying....wooohooo!!! I saw the 87 in your title and told myself not to get too excited since Shadow has some funny ways. Then I saw this was cycle 3.. so the green was not from left-over higher dose shed action... hmmm, this is a true green for his current 1 unit dose. OK... NOW I'm excited!!!

Pat, please take some photos of Shadow in his pretty e-collar. Someday in the future he can look back and smile. I love the extra kisses he's giving you since he can't 'kiss' himself! That made me laugh out loud!

And I'd love some chocolate... right now. Getting my passport and plane ticket, see ya' soon Monique!

Oh, Shadow, Spot wanted me to tell you that your collar is just the most in-style thing he has seen! He said not to worry about how you look in it, you are a trend setter and you know that trend setters tend to get all the girls ;-) ;-) Spot is looking forward to seeing Shadow at the parties today!

Shadow is looking very nice in that green 87 today! I hope that this green color continues!

Anyway, I am going to take a breath now. As you can see, I checked him so I would know if he was on the way to diving but he has actually surfed nicely all day long!! I would really prefer if he stays steady without diving and cheating at the dosecrease game. Get 3 <50 (cause it IS Shadow after all) and then earn a dosecrease. Wouldn't it be LOVERLY! :mrgreen:

Now, am I a bad Mother or what? I put this collar on upside down so his head is free to eat but he cannot lick or scratch. He is not happy. At night, I put the collar on so it is around his head~the way it is supposed to be. He is not happy then either. As soon as he finishes his meal, he takes to grooming and goes right the the raw shoulder first so I tried it this way. I don't have to remove it for meal times.....this only works cause he is on the thin side.

I wish there was something else I could do. But he keeps licking and licking...nothing has a chance to heal. Do you think this is okay? He looks like he's wearing a choir boys outfit. BTW, the sores healed under his ubangi bandage but the shoulder cannot be covered so that never healed over. Does anyone have any other ideas? Is this a horrible thing?

Pat - seriously - if it keeps the area free from licks and gives it a chance to heal and he's not choking or dying - then you're doing the right thing. Another thought, can you put a t-shirt on him? would he keep it on and not try to get it off and would it cover as well as the cone of shame? (Sorry, couldn't help myself).

Another idea - how about an ace bandage or that stuff they use to wrap around that's flexible and comes in pretty colors?

Just because the kids don't like what we do does not mean we are bad moms. It probably means we are doing things right! :lol: I call it genius if it deeps him form licking the sores and he can still eat.

Beautiful surf today. Tess is surfing too and will probably arrive dripping, but the strawberries will be well washed!

Hey Pat I guess the soft blue e-collars are out? just wondering if you have tried one of those yet? can he reach the area with them do you know they are so much more comfortable for a cat but then again they are flexible so sometimes cats can still reach the no- no area and the t-shirt idea maybe is a thought to try?? Hill...that bandage stuff works great for his neck but his shoulder is the area that is too awkward to be covered. The collar worn the right way does the trick too, but then his head is surrounded and he looks more uncomfortable that way. I thought about little shirt but ---well, this seems to be doing the job.
His other Aunties asked for a picture so I put him through the embarrassment. I feel terrible doing this to him but I have tried all that I could think of.
Hope Maui is ready for tonight....it's gonna be a good one! :mrgreen:

I know petsmart sells pet size shirts, but I'm wondering if a baby's or toddler's would fit?

and yeh, shoulder area can be a challenge - so looks like Shadow will face the embarrassment and have to wear his collar backwards - he could try and pretend it's a new fashion trend and said, it's better than a lampshade on the head!

He does look like a choir boy! Awww, so sweet! I think putting the collar on backwards it is a clever idea so he can eat and wander around without bumping into corners and stuff. Yet it keeps him from licking his wounds. Bandages would prevent air circulation which is necessary for healing.

I know when my Mother fell off a ladder and sliced the skin off of her shin, it was very hard to heal the wound with bandages covering it for too long. I suggested she use a hair dryer on 'cool' to force air on the wound every day before covering it again. She said it did speed up the healing process. Too bad most kitties hate that sound... it's too much like the dreaded vacuum cleaner noise. :lol:

My (GA) civie came home from chest surgery wearing a gauze tube bandage. I actually still have it, for sentimental reasons, and I have just asked Teddy to model it for you. You might be able to find it at a drugstore that carries a wide selection of bandage supplies, or maybe from a vet hospital. It comes as a stretchy tube with an inner opening about 6 or 8 inches in diameter, and you cut it to the required length, and pull it over the cat. You cut out little arm holes with the scissors. It is stretchy and flexible, and will breathe. Here is Teddy happily (NOT!!!) modeling his cute shirt:







After he has about a three hour bath to get the bandage stink off him and settle his fur back in place, he will be headed out for the party! I told him that all the cool kitties were wearing collars tonight, so I think he is going to put it back on before he leaves. I caught him and Bear whispering in a corner today - turns out they were pooling their allowances to pick up a nice bouquet of roses for the bar, and a pint of fresh Ontario strawberries for the buffet tonight. Please make sure Bear doesn't tire himself out trading stories with Logan and Latte and Mannie and Spot all night!

Aww, he looks like he doesn't mind that much. He posed for the camera. As long as it works and keeps him from licking. Maggie said she will come to the party and wash his face for him. Is he going to sing tonight since he's wearing the choir boy outfit?
 
Linda, how nice of you to get Teddy to model that shirt. Too bad Teddy didn't agree to this. Hahahaha!
I hope he got all his fur back into a stylish hair-do and successfully removed the 'fragrance of bandage'. Too funny!! :lol: :lol:
 
Blue is wearing the soft blue e collar - has been for nearly 3 weeks. He can get fairly comfortable with it - I find him sleeping with it folded like a taco over his head... and it flips down like a cape sometimes, but he still can't reach his incision. Would that be an option? When I was reading up on Blue's amputation surgery, they said that for front leg amputations, people sometimes put a baby shirt or tank or something on the kitty to keep them from messing with the bandage/wound (doesn't help for rear leg amputations, but that's why he's got the soft e collar).
 
This iz Basil. I'm here for the party. Man, I wanted to have a good time tonight, but I can't believe she made me wear this outfit. Sheesh!

Pat,

Sara is on her way. After spending all day looking for something to wear she decided on her cowl neck white t-shirt [in honor of Shadows cone]and a pair of strawberry colored petal pushers. White flip flops and a little white pocket bag thats worn on the foreleg for her lip gloss, cell, etc.

Sara is always looking to attract those eligible boys. :-D

She told me that she can't wait to join the festivities, even though she has'nt been feeling herself lately.

Linda...what a great idea! I guess my post got lost but I wrote that I was going over to CVS across the street....well, they didn't have what you were describing. I will look around for one. Thank you so much for suggesting that. I will thank Teddy personally tonight :mrgreen: That was so sweet of you to do that Linda...thank you! :YMHUG: I was filled with such hope as I ran over there too. It's a smallish store so they don't carry everything.

You guys are all so nice...your posts had me giggling here! Shadow ate his dinner without his choir boy collar and sure enough, he started licking his shoulder. I yelled and he ran :lol: So I grabbed him again and put it back on. At least he got his tail cleaned...yeah, I saw him busy with the tail and as soon as I turned my back, he was at the shoulder! What a sneak!

Some of the kitties arrived after the OTJ parties and they all decided to nap. Everyone is in a cozy place and grabbing power cat naps. There are storm clouds in the sky...and lightning. Our storms pass by quickly so it's just as well that they are resting. Not missing anything yet. What a day this has been so far with 2 kitties celebrating their OTJ day! Congratulations again to Tuffy and Vesta...what a happy day!

:-D :-D :-D what a wonderful condo today! Shadow is looking great and the suggestions and pictures of Teddy and Basil and Shadow in his choir boy collar are just what I needed to see to make my evening!

Spot left earlier and should be at the party by now. He decided that he wanted to bring some strawberry tunaritas for this evening, and he found this wonderful strawberry catnip salad with Strawberry vinapurrette dish in the cat fancy magizine he whipped up for everyone to try. He's also got his special baggie of herbs and spices for the turkey burgers in tow. Please make sure he drinks only a little glass of those tunaritas...he's on those AB's and he's really not supposed to drink on them, but since it's a party, I said he could have ONE.
 
Six thinks Shadow looks like an astronaut with his collar on....rather fitting for tonight's party, don't ya think?

He was also jealous of how good Teddy looked in the photos (Six was turned down a few years ago for America's Next Cat Model).
 
Luna and Bast had arrived in their little red convertible and the moonbeams were lining up at the dock to drop off kitties from the parties. They were all so tired and when Raja suggested they all nap first, everyone agreed. Everyone awoke from their naps and the activity began in earnest. Tess said the nap was just what she needed after her day of surfing and partying! Logan arrived all dapper and handsome in his blue outfit and everyone was so happy to see him! Stu and Mannie in the kitchen with Raja were busy preparing the food with help from Buzz. What a delicious buffet they served! Chef Stu outdoes himself each and every time! There was turkey and San Clemente birdies and Sarah chicken and countless other delicacies!

Kasha and Blue arrived and Shadow was SO happy to see Blue's collar! :lol: They talked about being the kewl ones with the latest in kitty attire and Six told them they looked very handsome and that he thinks he would wear one himself if need be. That are the latest after all says Six! ;-) Luckily, Basil arrived in his Strawberry Shortcake outfit and Bear Man fell off the bar stool laughing! That took the heat off Shadow and Blue with their collars! Bear Man and Teddy had brought beautiful roses for the bar and Ontario strawberries in honor of the June full moon....it goes by both names you see! Everyone loved the roses...they are beautiful. The strawberries are for later!

Sara started wearing Basil's hat since it went with her strawberry colored petal pushers and Shadow was admiring her cowl neck sweater! Maggie cleaned Shadow's head as she had promised and he really appreciated that. He felt much better and said he was really ready to par-tay now! All the girls look so pretty with their beautiful party dresses. Latte is sitting at the dais with Logan and Tori and Tuscany...Vesta and Tuffy are there too cause it is their day!

Maui insisted on mixing niptinis at the bar even though everyone wanted her to relax after her busy day. She is a character though....she says cleaning a pool is hard work, but mixing niptinis is just plain FUN!
W00-W00. :lol: Spot, Blackie, Teddy, Bear Man,Big Mac and Do Lou were telling Maui that she makes the BEST niptinis in town! Of course, she LOVED to hear that and their glasses were never empty! Pace yourself, boys! Socks and Spooky brought some sinfully delicious looking desserts and we had to keep Tray and Blackie from diving in before they ate their dinners! :lol:

There are so many kitties here now. I know I have missed so many of them in this report. But, they are all eating and of course, giggling. Everyone is so happy to celebrate all the wonderful things today.....Tuffy and Veta's OTJ...and the beautiful full moon. Blue suggested that they raise their glasses to toast all their wonderful Beans who take such loving care of each and everyone of them. It brought a tear to my eyes...and then, I realized that each kitty had tears in their eyes too as they raised their glasses and cheered.

They took time out of their partying to say a prayer of thanks for US! Blue was so sweet to lead them in that and they all then ran over to him and hugged him cause he is so sweet! Then,they all ran over and hugged Tori...and then they all went over to hug Bear Man. Then, they all began hugging each other!! It was a regular hug fest! Everyone was crying with all the love they have in their hearts for each other.
They are so happy to all be together! Bear Man stood up and got their attention. He lead them all in giving thanks for all their blessings...and for all the joy and good times they have had. Then he talked about the happiness that they all feel in living each moment of their lives to the fullest. The blessings of wonderful families and the gift of friendship are two of the joys of this life. He reminded them that they were all beautiful, each and every one of them. They all love Bear Man and hang on his every word.

It was the official opening of the festivities! They are awaiting the Moondance now....a hush has fallen over the crowd. Moonie and Shadow are ready to begin.

The food ,the niptinis, the joy over 2 OTJ's , the full Moon, made the whole event so so special!!!
Even Tough Tuffy was touched by the outpouring of love for her & Vesta=--
