almost an hour ago, BC tested at 170. He ate a couple of treats after sticking, then some wet food. When is it ok to dose him? I'm concerned that he's getting lower, not higher, and at pm stick, will be too low.

How far away from pmps are you? He may continue to drop or may start up. You do want him rising in numbers, not falling, before shooting. If he rises to 180/190 you could give a reduced dose - as long as you can monitor some tonight. Especially a before bed test.

Sorry I went with the DH for a bit.
I dosed him 1 unit. Will monitor for several hours

I checked him around 3:30 AM, he was 177.
This morning, 217
I dosed him 1 again.

He really likes having a bag of treats at the sticking station.
