I dozed off and the vet called me anyway to suggest putting him on Cerenia! She read my mind, thank goodness! Will go pick that up and hopefully he will be eager to eat again.

I'm sorry he's uncomfortable today.

I wonder if how he is today has something to do with not giving him enough pain relief yesterday, I saw he didn't have all of his 3 doses. When did he have his last dose yesterday?
With some meds you have to maintain a therapeutic level of drug in your system to get consistent relief. (I don't know if this is the case with Bupe)

George hasn't had pancreatitis so no hands on experience but I seem to remember folk saying that the pain can really flare up if you remove/reduce the pain relief too soon, and that applies to the nausea meds too.
I hope that someone with more experience can offer you some help and clarify.

I think you're right, we decided yesterday that he probably didn't need it 3x a day and I think he might have done it overnight after it wore off maybe? We are going back to 3x a day now. He has been keen on eating after all the meds are in his systems, which is good.

The vets keep trying to recommend putting him on m/d food saying it'll be easier on his tummy, etc etc. Advice on this? @tiffmaxee @Wendy&Neko ?

It's better for the vet's pocket books and plays havoc with the cat's blood sugar. Politely decline, tell them you tried it and he didn't like it.
Thank you. In my brain i know this, but annoyingly i am easily swayed. Thank you for reminding me! He seems to be doing well on Ziwipeak and the odd can of fancy feast at the moment. He started purring after eating the ziwipeak which says to me it makes him feel good!

I don't know how it is in New Zealand, but in a lot of the vet schools here, the Hill's company volunteers to teach the "nutrition training" section of the curriculum. It's less than a day's worth of classes. Save your money.

Max never went on RX food for pancreatitis. He was on Hills CD after he blocked and I think it might have caused issues for him. I would try cerenia and I agree that the pain is definitely not controlled. Are you giving bupe fir tge pain along with gabapentin?

Yes, we are giving bupe and gaba but stupidly we thought yesterday he would only need the bupe morning and night. We should have given him 3 doses 8 hours apart :( I won't make that mistake again.

I definitely will, thank you! I believe that a lot of vet clinics here are sponsored by Hills. They have the Hills logo on their uniforms! And then Hill's regularly gives the vet clinics talks on why their food is so good o_Oo_O

I'm struggling to give him his insulin. He HATES Lantus and has attacked me every time I've gone near him with the syringe. I tried burritoing him but I'm the only one home and he completely lashed out when I did that. I don't know what to do :(
