I'm guessing if I had shot more like 1.5 or 1.2 or even 1 U yesterday morning - I'd have probably gotten a number that would have required a dose that night and than we'd be more regulated instead of off and on I'm thinking. Thoughts?

I think you're right. But every event is a learning experience. Now you'll know for next time.

That 400 was after eating the cake and frosting right? so that was not a true bg #.

You may be seeing some pancreas action here.

Well, he licked some frosting off a plate that was finished - I mean I'm sure it registered but I think the high number was more to do with my over doing it (and him) on the dry snacks. But you have a good point with the pancreas..

ellen it would have been great to see what he peaked at yesterday..+6 or so. but aside from snacking on no on's he's overall looking good so far.

Yes, the testing is proving to be very hard - one of his ears just does NOT bleed - I swear - I have to warm it up quite a bit and he hates that it's just a nasty struggle every time - the other poor ear which seems to be easy is so bruised - I just feel horrible. I know I keep doing it but both his ears feel hot all the time now - he's seeing the vet on Wed of next week - going to get his input.
Tonight pmps he was 211 - I gave the smallest amount I can get on these syringes - it's less than .50 but not much - are there other syringes that break it down better? I feel like I'm guessing. He got lots of (well several decent kitty pieces) of cooked chicken cause he finally held still when I finally got a bead of blood. I am going to do my best to check him again - WHAT WOULD BE IDEAL? See where he is at +4? Just before I go to bed? thanks for all the help.

Any test you can get on any day will help to fill in the picture of how the insulin is working in him. If you can get a +4 one day and a +8 another day and a +6 another day will eventually tell you when his nadir is.
