Sorry I could not post sooner, the clinic is 1.5 hrs from my house, 2 hrs from THS, and once I got here today I have had to try to post in between doing all the store stuff.
Dr. Amanda says Tawny is actually doing well, but OMG, she just looks so pitiful.
She's got all these tubes sticking out of her and she is so skinny and she just seems so, so...frail. She is so young, only about 7-1/2.
It just breaks my heart.
We had a really good visit actually, I just hurt so bad for her. Dr. Amanda says actually she is doing really well. She is "nibbling" a little and also getting tube fed. She ordered ondansteron for her today and they will be giving me a scrip for that as well. (Thank you Karrie for your kind & generous offers on the ono and everything else.)
We are ordering a couple of Kitty Kollars for Tawny too (thank you again Karrie), one to wear and one to wash.
Tawny got some dextrose yesterday so that spiked her BGs up into the 350 range, but Dr. Amanda said she wanted to wait and see what the #s did today b4 adjusting the dose, she did not want to adjust based on any effect the dextrose might have had.
She insists that Tawny is doing well. Tawny did walk around a little during our visit but mostly she just curled up on my lap and napped. I could have sworn at one point she was purring, but I figured that was just wishful thinking. Then when Dr. Amanda came in and sat down w/us Tawny started purring again. She really is purring in that one picture where the caption mentions purring.
Becky, one of Tawny's favorite techs & one that truly adores Tawny & that I have worked closely w/since the very beginning of the 1st hospital stay, said that yesterday when she was leaving the clinic she stopped by Tawny's kennel to scritch on her a little b4 she left & when she stopped Tawny kept putting her paw up on Becky's hand and pulling it back to her. Tawny has always loved to "hold hands" and I told Becky that and she said, yup, she could definitely see that.
We had a good visit. I snuck my Precision Xtra blood ketone meter in and did a test on Tawny when I was in the visiting room alone w/her! .2! BBK .2! Wooooohooooooo! Yes, the ketones are really gone! Then when Dr. Amanda came in I gave her the stuff I had printed out for her on the blood ketone vs. urine ketone business, the abstracts and some of Sharyn & Fiona's posts where she collected data on some members who had had compiled data on their cats about this, and I confessed to Dr. Amanda what I had done...that I had pulled that BBK reading. She just smiled and thanked me for the data, she seemed genuinely interested. She already knew about the correlations I had made on Tawny's BBK v. urine ketones, and I really think she is interested. I also gave her a copy of the TR protocol and the Convert-A-Vet info from the stickys.

Dr. Amanda hopes to send Tawny home this weekend. She sent me home w/2 cans of Clinicare today.
At least this time hopefully I will have all the tools I need to keep Tawny healthy for good (i.e., e-tube, SubQ lessons, etc.)
I will post more later, I gotta close up and get outta here.
I scritched and loved and hugged and kissed Tawny for all of you.
She said tell them all I love them too.
