Rocket & his Mom
Member Since 2010
hi LL family,
very late opening a condo....
it's been a rough week for me...averaging only 3-4 hrs sleep a night....working like crazy at work...very stressed and anxiously awaiting the blood work results....
this is what the vet had to say:
"Rocket's kidney values came back as stable/improved with BUN 25.4 (was 25.8, 38, 30.6, 28.5 between June - October), and creatinine 265 (was 258, 424, 305,300 between June - October). The T4 is currently 14 (was 29, 14, 20 between June - October), with the FT4 of 10.2.
I am happy to see that the kidney status is stable. The SQ fluids you are consistently giving are helping. At this point in time the thyroid does not appear to be contributing to Rocket's clinical signs.
The urine analysis: dilute urine (as shown on all recent tests) with a 1+ protein. The culture was negative, therefore no infection at present. The 1+ protein suggests abnormal loss through the kidney; to confirm this we need to run a UPCR (urine protein creatinine ratio) on a fresh urine sample. If this shows significant loss, this might contribute to some weight reduction."
I will for sure follow up tomorrow morning with the vet...i want to test further and see what is wrong with him....
BG numbers as stated on subject line...i have not updated his SS...not enough hrs in my day to do so....he has been in the blues and greens....looks tired...sociable...and this morning he woke me up at 3:29 am...so in a way he is still doing the Rocket things...
today while i was at work...he had NOTHING to eat all day....but has eaten ok since i got home...
i'm gonna try to see if i can take a nap...not always possible....i'm over tired and as always worried about him...
keeping Garland and Tawny in my prayers as well as continued prayers for Jill and Mike....and MJ....i'm sorry if i've missed anyone else who is not well .....i am not caught up on my condo reading....
Linda,
I will ask the vet on the benazepril (i'm not sure of the spelling in the state of mind i'm in right now)....not sure if it's a forever med or just a temporary one...
i'm soooooo tired and dealing with back problems too...it's 9 pm and gotta get some food in my system...
nite LL family....
ps....today marks Rocket turning 18 yrs 3 months......i celebrate each day i have with him...but that is a milestone considering all he has going on....
